I cannot get into these songs at all. I still spin Fuzz Universe once in a while though. I know he's an incredible guitarist but I just can't get into his music or his singing.

Is anyone picking up this album?

There are actually a few songs on it I really like. Listening to the actual album, rather than YouTube live clips help.

I’ve owned a few PG cd’s from way back when and have always been a fan but this new album didn’t win me over on first impressions - I do give it massive bonus points these days for it sounding raw and genuine

I guess without physical albums, no one reads liner notes anymore 🤣
Inspiration has to come from somewhere…

Paul Gilbert - Turn Not Your Back (To Others)

WROC is my first vocal album since 2016. The lyrics were inspired by the etiquette book, "George Washington's Rules of Civility and Decent Behavior." I truly enjoyed turning Washington's Rules of Civility (WROC) into ROCK songs! I hope my vocal and guitar melodies will stir your heart and improve your table manners. Spit Not in the Fire!

"Turn Not Your Back (To Others)" - Written and Produced by Paul Gilbert
Lyrics inspired by Washington Rules: 14, 76, 24 and 9

This song title comes from Rule #14, which is one of my favorites. Since I have hearing loss, I find it much easier to understand people when they face me. Hopefully this song will encourage more of that. Overall, I enjoy how these rules take on an urgent emotional quality when sung. "Lean not upon anyone" and "Do not laugh too loud" take on a new life with vocal harmonies and rising chords. And as you've likely noticed by now, I cannot resist inserting a rousing "Spit not in the fire."

I loved the musicianship aspect of it and its arranged well but the dorky lyrics/image and cringey vocals absolutely ruin it. They’re so bad I can’t even tune them out.
You said what I didn’t want to

Vocals sound like Roth on the last VH album.
Rappoport? Hmmm.
Notice Doug has been playing Gibson lately. He still use Knaggs?

Yes .... it's crap.

I can't imagine how bad it would be without autotune.

The album is based on George Washington’s book, Rules Of Civility.
I do like the diddly diddly racer x stuff better too, but I kind of like the idea of it.
