PCM81 vs H3000

Just picked up a pcm81 and it does what it does well but would you put it up against a H3000

I have a pcm81 and the lexicon reverbs are by far better than anything else out there IMO. For chorus and modulation I’d grab an eventide eclipse or H9 max before I grab an h3000.

Really. The 3000 has me thinking bc the harmonizer is more to the point isn't it? Seems like the 81 is way more program based. I have to recover from my time ALL day yesterday. It sucks to have to sit that long just to get sounds you want, and I know what I want!!!! Fuck!!!

Harmonizer I'd grab an H9. H3000's are getting just as risky as lexicons are these days to run, restore, and gig regularly. So many proprietary parts. The only reason I run an 81 is because an H9 equivalent from lexicon doesn't exist, and I also have the ability to recap/restore/replace any parts should it go down. I've been wanting to grab another dead one for spare parts.

I've got a PCM81 in my rack. I prefer Lexicon reverb.

For modulation I use use an Eclipse, which is like two H3000s because it has the capability for stereo W/D/W.

Both classics and amazing sounding, but different flavors/caracter. One doesn't replace the other IMO.

Agree that H3000's need to be handled with care these days for sure.....I'd go for an Eclipse over the H9...the rack units sound better, are more powerful, more editable with a better interface and have much more headroom and lots more. You can find an Eclipse at half price if you look in the right place and the unit is still in production and can be repaired/serviced.

Yup, Lex for the 'verb win, hands-down, and whichever Eventide unit suits you best for FX.

Look at it this way:
'Verb is what Lexicon was all about and the company put decades into development.
FX, especially pitch-based ones, were what Eventide built its name on.
