Suhr Koko = Great
you may also wanna try the Keeley Katana

Some great suggestions here. I have a Koko on the way. The Monsterpiece Stud is super excellent, so is the Under Over. The ARC Effects Klone 2 is another really nice Klon type pedal. These two Klon types really make the notes pop and the mids are excellent imo. Another cool pedal with allot of versatility is the Skreddy Screwdriver Deluxe. Really dig this one into a Marshall.

Koko Boost. I've been using it to boost my Henning Cherry Bomb when I use lower output pickups and I love the thing. The mid boost is really awesome sounding...

I Don't mean to Hijack someone's thread but i have a question about the Koko boost. If i used one, with the mid toggle switch set to low mids with my jubilee would it boost the low mids of the amp or just simply add low mids to the amp?

Dude, don't be an asshole.

I'm curious about this myself as I'd love a full, in depth review of the pedal. My guess is that it does the latter.

That'd be really cool.

I'm looking into the Himmelstrutz more (new version of the Over Under) and it sounds massive. Wonder how that would sound in front of my amp.

I'd like to hear some non Slash/Bonamassa clips of a Jubilee. That'd be a treat.

me too, i've only found a handful of Jubilee Clips that aren't Slash or Bonamassa. Only 1 of which is heavy.

Was just jamming on my kitchen sink today with Koko boost. Awesome tone and the mid boost makes things very interesting!!

It's hard to justify getting one because the amp has so much gain even on BE. My amp is super aggressive and HBE has punch you in the chest low end even at whisper quiet levels.

Again, Koko sounds like the winner.
Yeah I totally agree the Friedman has way more gain than needed. It's hard to explain though I either run mine on BE with C45 or BE+sat switch but never run the gain past 1:30, usually 12:00 and goose it with Koko boost just set at 9:00 or lower with mid boost around 11:00 that way the Friedman is still set heavy but somewhat open sounding and once the JMP starts getting around 2 volume wise it's literally punching you in the chest. Then if I need clean I can roll back volume and still get it

I'm going to continue to pimp the Catalinbread Naga Viper boost. They talk it up as a treble boost but it can adjusted to full range, has it's own gain control, and is a terrific boost for gainy amps. I have not found an amp it won't work with. Great piece of gear.

Yeah I'd love to try a naga viper as well!

Just test drove the Koko. Low noise floor. You really cannot go wrong with allot of the mentioned. There are all unique in their own way. Some quieter than others. Some find a sweet spot with no squeal better than others. I prefer the regular Under Over Himmel to the Under Overdriver if you are looking at that nfor a boost. If you are putting it through a cleaner amp it may be better in that application.

If you're interested in the 808 style pedals, I can't recommend the SRB 808 overdrive pedals enough. The nasally midrange of the stock 808 was addressed by the pedal builder Dave Wireman. Now alot of people love the mid bump of a stock 808 and that fine but I feel he tweaked the mids just right in his design YMMV plus the pedal doesn't chop your bass repsonce off like a stock TS9, the Maxon OD808 was better in this respect keeping most of your bass. I had been through almost everykind of OD pedal out there, OD-1, SD-1, Modded OD-1(taxi driver from spain), Maxon od808, TS-9.

I tried the SRB on a whim from his EBAY store and there was no comparison, the SRB 808 is the only overdrive I have left since I bought it in 2009. It has 25%(New models twice the gain) the gain as a stock 808, three way clipping style switch, OD808 mode, SD-1 mode, clean boost mode. It also has a bass boost switch. The pedals use the highest grade parts, is true bypass in a nice heavy metal enclosure. I chose the standard JRC4558D chip, but you can choose what ever chip you like best as he uses sockets mounts for changing chips if you wish.

I bought my brother an SRB808 for his birthday and he compared it head to head with his Doug Aldrich Rocket fuel and the SRB beat it out for fidelity and clarity, it just sounded better. He has since sold the Rocket Fuel. Plus these pedals can be bought pretty reasonable on Ebay sold directly from SRB in his ebay store with a discount.

Check them out I feel these are a very underated pedal. There are quite a few great YT clips comparing this pedal as well.

no disrespect to others but if it were ME i'd take mark d's advice because:

1) he has a friedman brown eye
2) he works at tone merchants and has access to a gajillion pedals
3) his tones are excellent
4) and this he works along side dave friedman on a daily basis

Solid point.

I originally (as I'm planning my new board) wanted to have an MXR M108 and some sort of ultra transparent OD/Boost. I've always dug the M108; the latter was the hard part.

So many options! Some of which I don't think I'll get to try first hand. I'm not picky; but I don't like wasting money.

The Koko is the clear cut winner based on this thread for me. I think that with some of the stuff you guys mentioned would rock.

Thanks,

Domenic

True, but we may not all necessarily like the same kind of tone as Mark, or even Dave. Not saying I don't, but when I owned TM every rack was different with different pedals that all worked for that artist. Individual ears should be the deciding factor - :)
