Peters amp questions

Im running mine thru a 4x12 with WGS Vet30s and a Bogner V30 4x12. Sounds awesome with either!
Ive experimented with the damping control, and Ive found my best setup...I run an eq in the fx loop to shave off some of the upper most highs, while keeping the damping at about noon. That way I keep the aggressive punch/cut/lows, and the eq tames the shrill stuff.
I love it :)

I could see how an eq would help.

I picked up an Alex Skolnick LTD today. It's a bit darker than my LP, and it works perfect with the Peters. I'm getting some really nice, hi-gain tones with that guitar pushing the amp. Ripping, killer sounds.

Good stuff!

Just spent another hour playing with my Peters.

I reeeeaaally like this amp.

Anyone interested in hot-rodded Marshall or modern hi-gain tones would dig this amp.
The feel and voicing can be dialed in just right. It's all fun from there.

I knew it the instant you switched to the Gryphon channel; I was listening to the vid from the other room while changing our youngest child's nappy and then I heard that familiar low-mid Gryphon growl.
No other amp sounds like the Gryphon. Except maybe the GNL preamp. :D
Nice playing and tones. And hey nice color tolex too!

Thanks! I'm pretty sure there are older pics of this amp floating around Rig Talk. :)

The two channels sound fairly similar, but I can hear the difference, and more importantly, feel the difference. The Gryphon channel is awesome. Hell, both of them are, and either by itself is worth the price I got the amp for.

Nice! Love the gryphon mids. Great playing too! Thanks for taking the time to do a clip.

What settings did you use on each channel?

If James could find a way to fit a Gryphon and a GNL together in the same amp, it would be an awesome combination.

Thanks! I'm happy to put the clips out there. I know how much I appreciate them when I'm shopping gear.

The settings, going by memory (at work), o'clock: damping 10, depth 1, presence 1, master volume 9, channel volumes 10, channel eqs at or close to noon, crunch and edge on, gain at noon for Vega and 10 for Gryphon. Plugged straight in, nothing in the loop or in front of the amp.

For anyone interested, here are the same riffs on a Mesa Rectoverb 25, same guitar n cab. Modern mode, house-friendly volumes:

Damn! Why can't I find deals like that on amps I want? :D I've wanted a Gryphon ever since I heard some clips of one. But I just can't swing buying a new one right now. Great score and awesome looking amp man. Congrats!

Thanks! I was lucky that this one popped up locally. I've wanted to try one for quite a while.
They are pretty expensive, new, but the quality is top notch. I haven't seen anything else out there quite like it.

"a quad of... KT88's... too loud for around the house?"

Really?

It might sound great at low volumes, but if you need something for around the house a quad of KT88's might be a problem.

That said, get it.

Bingo!

Thanks for sharing, I'll give them a try this weekend.
Cheers!
