The 4 CDs purchased are:
- Awake
- Images and Words
- Metropolis 2: Scenes from a Memory
- Train of Thought

From the above clips given on YT, that cover screen for "Dance of Eternity" reminded me immediately of another "video character". Check it:

Tried doing this as graphic attachments and it didn't work...

The first three you have listed are my absolute favorites of DT. I'm actually listening to Scenes at the moment.

Just an update... Out of the 4 CDs, really diggin' the vibe of "Train of Thought". It's got an AIC/Metallica vibe going on, but with a lot more texture and uniqueness.

Likin' it a lot

Yeah, is a great disc for sure and the other 3 you have are a must to own. You have all you need, but Petrucci does have some tasteful melodic/soulful solos on Falling Into Infinity and even on Change Of Seasons. ANd you really need to check out the LTE stuff.

I think you are going to have to listen to all 4 cd's many times over before you can really take it all in and appreciate them.

Yep. It's got bite... I like bite

On a slight derail (I'm totally punning it today), Train of Thought has the best bass sound from Myung of all the DT CDs, the intro to "As I Am" is just big, deep and growling. I didn't find the later albums kept with that mixing, I really liked it.

Glad you're liking JP's work so far.

Images and Words.

Awake.

That is ALL you need. Plenty of tasteful (as well as technically brilliant) stuff on both records.

-C

This. The solo in Scarred for the win.

Listening to Scarred right now

You need to get the Age of Impact album if you want to hear JP do some of his best soloing.
Also the Liquid Trio Experiment - when the keyboard breaks album is killer for hearing a ton of improv.
