Pickup recommendation for a dead sounding basswood guitar?

get a evh Wolfgang or the evh Frankenstein.. they are amazing the Wolfgang is 4 conductor bot can be had for $100
 
Oh yeah, never thought I'd recommend it but try a Dimebucker. Shits over the top normally.
 
I hate to say this but I had a similar guitar that just had no resonance to it at all. I tried every pickup I could think of and at the end of it all I still hated the guitar and never played it so I got rid of it.

Some pieces of wood have it and some just don't.

You never really know how a piece of wood is going to be until it is done from my experiences.
