Pickup suggestions - PRS Singlecut

I wanna try some new pickups in my pre-lawsuit Singlecut. I typically play higher gain music and the stock pickups just aren't doing it for me. I want something a bit higher output for the bridge and a creamy, smooth lead pickup in the neck. I was thinking about the Duncan Jazz/JB combo, but I'm very much open to suggestion.

BKP Ceramic Nailbomb bridge and Black Dog neck. Thank me later!

Alternatively, a calibrated Holydiver set.....metal on the bridge, sickass leads on the neck. Can't really go wrong with either.

Anderson H2+ and H1, they won't break the bank and will sound killer ! I also do like the JB and Jazz, have them in a les Paul and they are great.

I was in the same boat.

I got some Bareknuckle Rebel Yells's which really helped my configuration. My single ut has a rosewood neck so it was slightly scooped sounding, rebel yells definatley evened out the tone for what I needed. Kinda sounds like a ballsier jb.

I'd email tim at bkp

Love them!

You could keep it all PRS and go with a Tremonti, they are great high gainers

EMG 81/85, best thing I ever did to my PRS CU24.

This is a great option. I've got them in an SC and they are awesome. I have a JB/Jazz combo in another SC, and while they are cool, I prefer the Tremonti. I also have the Anderson H3/H1 combo in another SC. I highly recommend this as well.

For lower output pickups, Suhr DSVs can't be beat.

I have tried dozens of pickup combinations in my PRS SCs, and the above are my favorites.

I think I'm gonna go with the Anderson's. the BKP look awesome, but damn they're pricey. I want to steer clear of active pickups on this guitar. I've got an Agile Explorer I'm gonna throw the 81/85 combo in

the Tremonti neck Pickup is a PRS 7 which is what you have now in your SC so I wouldn't bother switching it for one, i found that pickup in the Tremonti I had to be a bit woolly at volume so something brighter might be a good fit

The Tremonti Bass pickup is a Dragon II Bass, not a #7. Mark discussed his pickup selection for his signature guitar during several interviews. He designed the bridge pickup from the ground up with PRS, but he liked the sound of the Dragon II Bass on the PRS McCarty he played, so he used that one for the neck position of his guitar.

i don't want to get into a debate about it because honestly i don't know, but from everything i read on BAM back in the day the Tremonti bass is a 7, and McCartys have McCarty pickups.

anyway i didn't like the bass pickup in thenTremonti i had, whatever it was

the tremonti is a great pickup, but sounds compressed and oversaturated compared to bkps
my bandmate had it in a mccarty, then installed a cold sweat, and then a miracle man
although the tremonti sounded pretty good, the bkps put the guitar into another level of detail and versatility
they clean up much better and have a greater string separation under the highest gain levels

the prs singlecut is a very pricey guitar, and there's no pointing of sparing extra $100-$150 and not having the best tone you can get out of it
I've had bkps in much cheaper guitars and never regretted one, even when they weren't my thing

Oooooh, what's the word on the EMG 57/66 set?

they sound like EMG's :scared:

Hahaha, touché.

That's an incredibly valid point. I'm not in a huge rush so waiting to save a little more is no biggie. BKP it is.

I've got an Aldrich set in my '01 and couldn't be happier. They do exactly what you're looking for.

It turns out I had a PRS Dragon I pickup sitting around my jam room. It was in my CE22 and I swapped it out a few months ago for a Dimarzio d-activator, not even realizing why it was until I looked at the bottom today. It sounded great in my CE22, I just wanted to try the Dimarzio as it was gifted to me and I wound up really liking it too. The Dragon's in my singlecut now and when I get home I'll have a chance to run it through an amp to see if I like it.
