I don't have this issue with my other guitars. Just this one.

maybe you hit it right there... maybe its the guitar. a pickup wont polish a turd so to speak and you have already tried many perfectly fine pickups in it.
my 2 cents.

I don't think that it is the guitar. The tone from the Demon is great. It just doesn't have enough balls. I am looking to get the same or similar tone with more output. I am considering trying a preamp in the guitar.

If you dig the tone and just need a little more balls, etc, a Tube screamer might give you what you are looking for with the demon. I used a sparkle drive and it sounded great.

I have a Suhr Aldrich in my GMW (alder body, maple birdseye neck) and it sounds great. A downside is that you loose a lot of high frequency when you turn the pot down, turns to mud.

I also have tried a BNP Rebell Yell and VH11 in GMW superstrats. The Rebell Yell is a monster. Recently tried the motor city pickup Angel Dust in another alder/maple GMW--huge open sounds (not sure if I'm liking it but it definitely has a sound of its own).

Lot of Aldrich recommendations here. On paper it sounds like it might work for you but like was said before it depends on the guitar. I have an Aldrich in the bridge of my PC-1 and a Hamer Diablo. PC-1 is Mahogany and the Aldrich works great in this guitar. Hamer is Alder and I'm not crazy about the Aldrich in this one. Very hot, clear articulate tone but it lacks any bottom end. It's much more balanced in the PC-1.

What are the characteristics of your Maple guitar acoustically? If it's bright I don't think the Aldrich will work.

Thanks Guys, This is what I was looking for. Food for thought. The guitar is kinda bright but full sounding acoustically. I just need something to push the amp a little harder. The Demon has a great tone in this guitar. It just seems like something is missing.

Keep the Demon and change out your volume knob for a seymour duncan Blackout modular preamp. It will fatten up the Demon and give it the added chunk you seek.

Edit: Found it. Where is that pickup comparison thread at? I can't find it.

I have used JB's for years, even swapped the Tone Zone out of a SoCal for a JB, but think I might want to try a Duncan Distortion or Custom in place of it.

Rio Grande - BBQ Bucker is a monster hot rodded PAF sound to me...very balanced with lots of balls, can split to single coil too.

After all this time I finally got around to trying a few suggestions. The Suhr Aldrich is the clear winner. I also tried the CC, PG1, Super 3, Alnico Pro Slash and a Tone Zone. One thing I did discover while I was in there was that my push/pull volume that I removed was a 250K not a 500K like I thought it was. I may try the Demon again at some later date. Loving the Aldrich at the moment. Thanks for all the recommendations. You guys rock.

Either an Anderson H2+ or a Tyler Secret. I'd say my Secret sounds like a hotter demon. Very height sensitive though. . After a year I've only just dialled it in.

Two of my favs are the Rio Grande BBQ and a Dimarzio Norton (not air norton)
