Played a PRS for the first time today ...

Been a big PRS fan since 1990. I've almost always had a CU24 in my stable. It's just a guitar I can't live without. They seem to make em BETTER each year too. Which is usually the reverse with some companies. I think my 2013 CU24 is easily the best sounding and feeling PRS I've ever had.





You can get super great deals at The Guitar Shop in Toronto on new ones. You'd be surprised at what Brent can do for you. ive bought 3 from him and each one has been cheaper then anywhere else and he hand pics em.

I love 'em, but pretty much the McCarty's and Eagles with the right pups, the customs I have let go.
The first year Eagle is a grand piano

I've only played one that I liked and I've played a few.
I should have bought it. It was beautiful. Played great and sounded great. I missed that one.

I currently own a 93 Custom 22 (wide thin neck) and a singlecut trem with the rosewood neck. I have also owned a CE 24 and another custom 22 that had a stoptail. For me they are the perfect guitars. The build quality is always spot on and I admit I have been in love with the looks since I first got into guitar in the early 90's. They won't replace my tele or your strat or Les Paul but they do everything else extremely well.

First I played was a C24 and it was eh for me.

I then played the Swamp Ash Special and fell in love immediately. It was a customer's guitar and he had me load DGT pickups into it that he scored off eBay. It was everything I could ever want in a guitar lol.

I can't get into them at all. The SE stuff is pretty good for what it is but the high end stuff gives you very little bang for buck. I would much rather a Suhr or Nic Huber anyday. Everyone is different though, to each their own but if you are considering spending over 2000 on a PRS do yourself a favor and try out a Suhr Pro first or a Tom Anderson.

I don't like the Anderson neck shape, and the Suhr stuff is way more expensive than a used PRS.

Agree about the pickups. With the exception of the PRS DGT pickups. Best pickups made, imo.

Lots of Gibby owners hating on PRS on the forums, and it's just silly. It's like Ferrari vs Corvette. I used to dig the Corvette, until I drove my first Ferrari. Now it's all over for me. But I don't try to dis the Corvette, because I know lots of other people still like them.

Have not heard the DGT pups myself, but I've read good things about them. I've been interested in the nearfields or narrowfields, (cant remember exactly) seems like a good compromise of a SC/HB, would like to try those out
Its always funny to hear people bash PRS stuff, a lot of whom pick something they say is better that I let go of to get mine
Apples and oranges....
I got all my PRS stuff used except for the Eagle, which I got from a dealer who had to go under and had it in his private stash for years, so I never paid full pop for them

They just require a bit of amp tweaking from an LP or Strat to get a good tone to my ears.

I have an 01, used of course, and it is a very utilitarian guitar. No faults. It is a great new country rock guitar.

F me to tears. I played a 408 that was un-effing believable today. I'd have to sell a kidney to get it, and I'd be locked into whatever pickup Paul deems to put out for those oddball shapes. But what an amazing guitar.
