I like the free red picks from Guitar Center better than anything else. I usually use the the yellow 351. The free red are very similar but seem to last much longer.

I used Jazz III for about a decade. Switched back to the 351 many years ago. For me it was about tone and attack.

If playing funk techniques I prefer red, orange or yellow. Most other playing styles green, blue or purple is fine. Yellow is just a good compromise.

The flows have just a hair too round shoulders so I still prefer the 1.14 Black Fang. Funny they are just black ultex sharps but somehow feel different. Always good with Tlll as well.

Finally settled on
D’addario Black Ice and Dunlop Primetone Jazz 3’s… (brighter)

Even use em on acoustic, tuck right into the finger joint perfect for me.

Fast, clean punchy. 80’s on up…

This is what I use. They sound better than every pick I've used. One pick can last me a month when I sharpen it in the carpet. I also use the Dunlop flow 0.60 mm for a different sound and feel.

Live, I use fender mediums (and I go through them) but sometimes will use Clayton 1.52mm....when I record, I like Clayton 1.52's for solos, 70-80mms for rhythm or Fender mediums, clean channel gets fender mediums.

I've been using the 1.14 White Fangs for a while now.
The only bitch - I wear them out faster than Tortex picks.
The pluses for me make that insignificant.

Funnily enough, I never used picks when playing bass until the last few years. Some tracks/sounds need it and boy can it really save my fingers!

It took me years to play guitar with a pick, as I played bass for several years before ever picking up a 6 string.

Kinda wish I never did use a pick, as I only did it because others said I had to and never out of any type of playing difficulty. I used to pick in the same style as Mancuso.

Anyway, picks can rock on a bass but I am also a finger man, as yourself.

You only use 2?? Maybe I have been doing it wrong. For bass I have always used three and for the other....well....
Yep, can't play Roundabout with fingers...

They're Ultex.
I wear down the sharp end faster than Tortex.
Sorry, I was replying to @stephen sawall about GC picks

White Fangs I know about. You should try Tortex Flows, JIII XL and TIII if you wear Tortex better for similiar shape

Squire has a unique picking technic which I inadvertently picked up myself long before I ever listened to Yes much less became a Yes fanatic. I kinda hold the pick sideways and strike the string With the side of the pick and the meat of my thumb at the same time.

You can’t correctly play Roundabout with your fingers, but you CAN play it.

Yes I believe they are Tortex. They sit between the yellow and orange Dunlop. Closer to the yellow.

GC I have only seen Tortex the last few years. Not sure what they were before that.

satch grip is 1.25 mm. JP Flow is 2 mm. Better tip and more brillaint sound with the JP flows. Much prefer them.
Satch picks have a softer attack and the tip is round.
$16 bucks for 5 of the satch save your money.

I use Plectrums.
That's a Thread for @valve
Thanks, i've seen it, but i didn't made it past the Poka-hauntas stuff:D

since i also play accoustics with a pick sometimes, i really started hating the scratchy sound i get with picks of 1.1mm and less.
Then i noticed that fast tremolo alternate picking is much easier for me with picks in the 1.3 - 2 mm range. even sicker ones work great too for tremolo picking, but string changes with fast alternate pickin don't work for me that good anymore.

For accoustics the Jazz XL III (nylon) is great. the attack is not too shrill.
For electric guitars it's too soft sounding for me though.
Material wise i tend to like carbon(-nylon) and ultex.
Tortex also has a smoother tone, but i tend to like the brighter carbon/ultex attack...
i like the XL Jazz 3 shape and the flow shape the best so far.

edit: ah and i also like the 2mm Big Stubby!
