Jazz IIIs with the Max grip. Ideally the carbon fiber but I can handle the red ones too.
i like that one's tone and grip, but it's a tad too small to be perfect.
Anybody knows if there is a bigger version available?

satch grip is 1.25 mm. JP Flow is 2 mm. Better tip and more brillaint sound with the JP flows. Much prefer them.
Satch picks have a softer attack and the tip is round.
$16 bucks for 5 of the satch save your money.
the flow is really brighter? I only know the fender extra heavy celluloid ones and they are very bright and they look close to the satch grip!
does the satch grip even differ from the fender extra heavy ones? edges seem a bit more rounded maybe?

funny how hetfield holds his picks!
i think i did hold it the same when i was a beginner:D.

i tried it and now i think i know why he mostly downpicks!
I can't play like that at all!

Thanks, i've seen it, but i didn't made it past the Poka-hauntas stuff:D

since i also play accoustics with a pick sometimes, i really started hating the scratchy sound i get with picks of 1.1mm and less.
Then i noticed that fast tremolo alternate picking is much easier for me with picks in the 1.3 - 2 mm range. even sicker ones work great too for tremolo picking, but string changes with fast alternate pickin don't work for me that good anymore.

For accoustics the Jazz XL III (nylon) is great. the attack is not too shrill.
For electric guitars it's too soft sounding for me though.
Material wise i tend to like carbon(-nylon) and ultex.
Tortex also has a smoother tone, but i tend to like the brighter carbon/ultex attack...
i like the XL Jazz 3 shape and the flow shape the best so far.

edit: ah and i also like the 2mm Big Stubby!
Like i said. That's a Thread for you :D
What's tremolo picking again?

maybe i am using the wrong term, but think dick dale
What?

i tested out the Dunlop flow variety pack to find the thinkness i like the most. I though it was between the 1.5 and 2mm! Those thicknesses work great (as expected), but surprisingly the thin flow picks work great for me, too! didn't expect that at all.
the trempicking feels smooth and reliable, which i couldn't do reliable with the skinny picks up 'til now.
So now i can get the sharper attack of the thin picks but don't have to sacrifice playability!
That is a really a big deal to me, because i like what the thin picks do for rhythm playing!
