Proof that I'm getting old....

The cab is a Avatar oval back loaded with a Jensen Blackbird. That cab is not the fanciest, but it sounds excellent. It has beat out all of my other 1x12's. The Blackbird is an awesome sounding speaker for all genres and the feel is sublime...
How does the Blackbird sound with your homebrewed Twin head?

I am now in a Heart tribute band. I'll be playing the Roger Fisher parts mostly. The keyboardist will assist in rhythm guitar parts. The singer is a young thirty-year old lady that has a kick-ass voice and loves Heart. The drummer is an acquaintance I've known since I was a teenager. We just need a bass player. We have a few gigs lined up already.... This will be very fun as I was really young when Heart broke out... I love the music!
Lmao imagine trying to be Nancy Wilson in that band, she is so badass!!!

Awesome. It is the perfect match IMO.
Is it dark? My main concern is that if it's a darker speaker it might do me a disservice for cranked usage. Otherwise it's one of a few speakers on my short list I'd love to try a set of in a Twin.

So far this year ive turned down a Bad Co tribute which i was onboard with but never got off the ground, 2 top 40 bands.
A "bro-cuntry" klan rally band and 2 chic singer bands.
60's / 70's 80's is out here. Everybody want 90's+ bands. Mostly 2010 and up. thats 7 decades of music for me which i can do
but nobody seems to want what i really like to play.

I love Cheap Trick. I always thought thst would be a great cover band.

My thing with tribute bands is if you are going to do it, do it all in. Wear the costumes, learn the poses, etc. People come to remember that great music and I always dig when a band is all in.

My buddy and I saw Mr. Speed outside in 90 degree weather a few years ago and they were amazing even though they had to be dying in the wigs and paint and costumes. They really sold the KISS magic.

I had the same concern. But it is not a dark speaker. I would say it is an even sounding speaker. Plenty of chime and sparkles. But, no undue emphasis in the upper mids. I believe they got the voicing perfect, even for metal... it is thick in the low end, but not overly. It's one of my all-time favorite speakers for any genre. The only drawback is the price...

Thanks for the details Carl. Once I get my K-120 reconed I can think about what speaker to pair it with, though at the price of the Blackbird a 2nd K-120 is not much further off money wise.

Let me know if you need a fat era Ann Wilson. I can’t sing but look good in heels.
the pre Paul Blart era sisters were worthy
