Looks nice.
But who the hell is Akerfeldt?
See quotes below and give yourself a stern talking to. ;)

The frontman for Opeth. If you like metal but haven't checked out Blackwater Park, you're missing out- it's one of the best metal releases over the past decade IMHO

Nice score  How much will it have cost you in total after the upgrades if you don't mind me asking?
Agreed man. Love that album.

In U.S. $:
PRS SE Akerfeldt ($650-ish)
2 x Gold BG Pickups ($130)
and Schaller gold locking tuners ($72)
Graphtech Tusq nut ($10)

All up, around $860 USD for a solidly crafted instrument with great tonewoods.

Nice! I thought these only came in purple?

I think the purple one you're thinking about is the Paul Allender SE but that also comes in emerald now. I bought that a year ago and it's awesome especially the Bat inlays.

funny story: I found out my ex was cheating on me with her boss and we split 2 weeks before our 3 yr anniversary. I took back the Ipod touch and a practice bass amp I bought her, and emptied my half of our joint savings account and bought the Allender! 2 weeks after I got it she shows up at a party and sees the new guitar and asked how I could afford it, so I told her the story, then my drummer ever so classy sings the folgers coffee theme with the words "The Best Part of Breaking Up..." Pretty funny I thought.

and a few SE's this year have the ebony fretboard. I love the Torero! check it out if you haven't, however I don't agree with $1,000 for an SE model.

Yeah that's the Allender SE.
The Paul Allender SE, Mike Mushok Baritone SE, Nick Catanese SE, Zach Myers SE and I think the Orianthi SE all have ebony fretboards.

Looks awesome. Very classy. I don't think any PRS has ever had an ebony board before have they?

Looks really nice man. They've really stepped up the appointments on some of the new SE's. Locking tuners, tone pros adjustable stoptail, Floyd....
Thanks mate. :)
BTW the Schaller Locking Tuners don't come stock.
I installed them myself.

Damn you, Firejack!! Now I have GAS for yet another PRS SE!
:D

I like it how it is...but if it didn't have his name on the headstock or the logo on the body it would be a really cool guitar.
I would pop some gold plated pups in there and it would look awesome.

TrentBizzle":2jgc5y5e said:
By the way...did you sand the back of the neck down? Or do they come like that?
I thought about gold covered pickups, but decided it might be a bit too much gold for my tastes.
I ordered my BG Hellabuckers from Bryan with the same gold pole-piece look as the stock pickups.
And the neck comes stock with the satin finish on the back.

yeah WTF? I guess sully from godsmack doesn't have his sig model out yet!

Don't know who that is either
I've heard of Godsmack, but don't listen to them.
I've listened to Opeth, and while their musicianship is top notch, I can't deal with the so called vocals.
Forgive me for not knowing the name to an underground metal bands guitar player

What exactly qualifies them as underground? Other than your opinion...

Anyway that model looks great.....I'll have to check one out if one is around in my area......I tried the Nick C. of Black Label Society PRS model and felt it was very uncomfortable to play. Kinda of the like a big awkward bulky bad Les Paul.....a shame I was excited to try it....

Nice guitar... .I honestly don't care for the band logo on it, but that would be the case no matter who's model it was, for me personally.

I thought the original plan for his model was going to include piezos, etc... suprised that they / he went this route.

And yeah, Akerfeldt rocks. He and his band have been, by far, the biggest influence on my own playing and writing in recent history.

For those of you who don't like the vocal style, they do have one disc that is entirely sung. The more recent work also has much more singing on it than the older works.
