PRS vs Gibson

i absolutely love gibson les paul's -- but that said gibson is pissing me the fawk off with the new 08 standard and the pricing lately... i could get a sick PRS 10 top 20th anniversary for the same price as a new 08 standard and that just doesnt sit well with me. maybe i only played lemons, but the playability of the two 08 standards i tried paled in comparison to my studio premium plus, let alone my other standards. I have played a modern eagle ii and a custom 24 and really enjoyed them-- i have yet to try a singlecut PRS, but i could very well switch my allegiance to PRS depending on the outcome of that. :powpow: *08 standard*
 
I'm a Les Paul guy all the way. I feel that PRS's are nothing more than pretty. nothing good on the inside, they feel like toys to me. *shrug*

I guess for 5-7k I'd hope to get something more than just pretty. for 2500 you can pick up a Gibson LP standard and they are for the most part great guitars
 
actually, the recent prices ive seen on PRS guitars are pretty competitive with what gibson is offering. just sayin'
 
i prefer PRS. the instruments they produce are ACTUALLY instruments, the company isn't an abomination, and they don't sue smaller companies just to keep their legal team busy.
 
I don't like either. It's not the quality, I have played amazing examples by each company and dogs by each company. For my taste, I prefer the tone, playability, and options of Suhr guitars. In the end, its what is does for your playing and tone that is important...

Tone: Gibson

I have both and they both excel at what they do, for example I can't get that classic gibby tone out of a PRS I can get close but there is still something missing, the tone is more refined or just different on a PRS. At the end of the day I prefer them both. I just have times where i play the Les Paul's more and then I have days I play my PRS's more.

God, that's such a cool picture! I love both. PRS's stay in tune perfectly, can handle alternate/dropped tunings with ease, and play like butter.
Gibsons are a bit more sensitive and don't always stay in tune and have other issues, but if you get a good one it has unparalleled mojo and vibe!

I recently put chrome pup rings, Grover tuners, a new graphite nut and some nut sauce on my 90's LP and it plays damn well now. Now I just have to swap the 498 for a new bridge pup and I'll be set! :thumbsup:
 
I have yet to find a PRS I gel with. They're nice and all, but I don't like to play them.

Gibson for me.
 
Currently on the fence for either a Tokai LS90 or a used PRS CE.

5-7 k? :confused: You can get a brand new PRS with a 10 top all day long for under 3 grand.
