ah, not satisfied with only trumpeting your own purchase you have to make it clear how superior it was to another forum member's cameron purchase lol
I think its already been mentioned that ALL CCVs sound a bit different, at least I read that here somewhere. So there's that. Glad you like it though! Love to hear the clip when you can.Equ1nox":3bszqbv7 said:Thanks guys and Len
Again, smoking busy, but got to finally play it for an hour tonight. Sounds killer and yes, I will put together a video and post it. I can't believe people get rid of stuff like this.
I'm also glad I didn't purchase the one recently on ebay that Mark alledgedly finished late last year. The new owner has a few CCV's and said it's different! To me, this is not good. Especially folks that have more than one of the same amp usually do it as "backup" amps, just in case. If it sounds different, wtf good is it?
In any even, this was a MUCH better deal and the holy grail in my eyes. Thanks again for everything!
p.s. - are you serious about getting fid of the Mesa Boogie Mark 2C+?? Fuck. I have 20 amps at the house, but that is one I don't have! God damn it! lol
I don't think I heard you say that about an amp beforerockinchippy":1ig9bdgd said:Equinox,

Different isn't always a bad thing, as evidenced by Alex's post above.![]()

Alex aka RockinchippyGood score.
It's because I don't just go out and brag about how good my amps sound, especially fully knowing that some are one-offs and therefore unattainable by others. I take no pleasure in being the "lucky one." Gear should NEVER be a competion. There is no holy grail that is universal. That's just presumptuous and silly.
I have people who try my Cameron's and could care less. They would prefer to play the Helios or the PT100. As much as I love my Cams, I have no need to validate my own taste and purchasing decisions by proclaiming my amps are THE best , especially at the expense of others feelings. Please.....

I'd take you even a step further...there's a Crate Stealth at GC.com. 349$....that amp will shit all over your 5153. And that's 1/3rd the price of your EVH.DICKROSE":2oijt0kj said:That's nice and all, but my 5153 50 watt at 1/4 the price shits on pretty much everything.

Yeah I'll admit I'd take a 5153 over the Stealth. But they are actually a decent sounding amp..Lee Jackson circuit and 6V6 in the power section. I've had a few of them and flipped em for 3-400...bought them cheap like 150-200. Jeff Blando of Slaughter/Vince Neil hoards them up...I actually sold one to him 4 years ago. Cool guy. If you are strapped for cash they are a decent backup amp. Nice clean and 2 boost channels that are switchable...so three channels plus reverb. Very articulate and Marshally. Cameron said online somewhere that he likes the Crate Stealth better than any of Lee's other amps...ampeg vl, metaltronix and the XLS.DICKROSE":2mshy6ps said:Racerxrated":2mshy6ps said:I'd take you even a step further...there's a Crate Stealth at GC.com. 349$....that amp will shit all over your 5153. Oh No, not the Crate. Fine, I'm sorry.

Just to be clear, it's not actually 12 gain stages. It is just 12 different clipping circuits on a rotary switch...keennay":o8gt18of said:I see Cameron threads still do what they've always done best (as witnessed on this and other forumsbring out the best emotions out of posters!

Equ1nox & Alex, I'm glad both of you got your hands on a CCV! It's a solid amp for sure; I finally got the chance to play with my #2 pre-production unit purchased not too long ago.
Alex, I am (and I'm sure Equ1nox too) very interested in hearing more about your 12-gain stage Atomica modded by Mark, specifically the technical details such as what else was modified besides the gain switch & power/output transformers. The Atomica I own is my favorite amp, over my late 70's master volume Marshall JMPs, and I'll never get rid of it! My inner Electrical Engineering geek wants to understand every single detail done to the stock & modded units.
I'll hit you up later on Groomed Noodlers since I know you're a busy man.
Cheers,
Nick
