Oh, and I did a Chimera clip last night, but the SM57 and my settings made it super bright, which would be great in a mix, but I think it would be subject to a lot of criticism here. I will see if I have time to make more tonight with less presence and dampening.

I really love it. It kind of tames the aggression with some warmth and can really growl with a vintage vibe, in a way. I think the lower output really helps it stay tighter than the Voltage. The mix of both together works absolutely perfectly. Adding volume to the Orange cab delivers more bass than the Voltage V30s, if you believe that.

The Gryphon has ended all amp GAS for me.
I still get curious about other amps, but I don't ever get the urge to purchase anything.

The damping can add a lot of sizzle in a recording situation.
I generally have it set to 12 o'clock for normal playing, then lower it to 10 o'clock for recording.

BTW have you tried the Damping backed down all the way off to 7 o'clock?
Gives you a real nice saggy lead tone.
I love that control.
