My vote goes for this. The Komet60. This amp changed my perspective forever. Too bad attenuation was not then what it is today or this amp would still be with me. If you can work with your touch and volume controls this amp with blow you away..

I have had just about every amp but one of these. They sound great. I cant remember, are these class A?

where these all your amps at one point?

Yes and no. I have had all these amps at one point or another. In the pic are

( in the background L to R ) The "Mogner" A 78 JMP that RB modded at make music in like 91. Tim R's 100b, his Uberschall, my Slo on top of his uber, My 100b (serial #001) plus whatever else was in his studio I cant recall. I think a couple Roccafortes and a few other things. The meat and potatoes of the session was the Komet, the !00b's and the SLO. Everyone there agreed the Komet fit me the best. I was blown away but kind of intimidated by its clarity. I bought it as soon as I could scrap up the dough.

I used that thing for a couple years with a THD and an SLO driving the wet cab (blasphemy. sorry mike) . the THD sucked too much tone and I could not handle the volume without attenuation so off it went. I tried the UA but not much if any better.. Now with the Fryette PS2 I want it back!!!

I cant recall either. It had the fast gradual switch but I think that was pentode /triode, I think was AB but not positive. It has been a long time.

They definitely sound incredible, that's for sure. Man, that Bogner porn page is crazy. Do you still have a 100b? Those are really awesome amps. Right now, I only have one amp, but it is awesome, the Masotti x100m. I love it, but I miss the days of having multiple amps.

Of the amps I've owned, the Wizard MTL is the most touch sensitive/expressive amp I've experienced. And it can be a very low gain amp if you need it to be. Most clear uncompressed amp I've experienced.

i had a k60 for a long time.

i hand a love hate relationship with it

loved fast mode

dynamics of the wall

great old school marshall cranked to ten sound.

could not get over the ghosting and low end break up when running it that way.

very fickle with pedals as well.

i think i would have been better off with thte hd version which seems to address these tupe of problems fors players who run em flat out.

interrested in the ert 33 but hate el84

gonna ask hogy at namm if he makes an el34 version

tried the concord as well. but that one felt like a cracked 50w metal panel. great. but not what i wS looking for.

def need to check a hd version with ps 2

Wizard metal is awesome but a bit of a different beast. WM is MV and has a lot more eq'ing. the K60 is like a runaway train but yes the WM is a monster. If you look in the Bogner porn thread, you will see I had the Wizard Metal X and the Komet both at the same time.. I went to Namm that year swearing by 2 amps. K60 and the Wizard. not sure the Metal X was necessarilythe best Wizard for me though. lol

you have good taste!

I sold my last one several years ago when I decide to go into business for myself. needed the cash..

the one I really want back is xtc 100b #001!!!

I hear ya on the low end the ghosting. the ghosting is a byproduct of seemingly all this type of amp.

I tried a few D13's and they did the same thing, so will an old marshall yes? It bugged me too on an RSA23asked FT about it and he was so dismissive and arrogant on the phone that I sold them and vowed never to buy another one of his products. lol it doesn't pay to be a dick to your customers!

Fuzzy What is the HD version?

people do seem to love the Trainwreck Express and related amps.
As far as I know, the Komet 60 is not Class A - very few push-pull amps are. It's probably Class AB like everything else. The fast/gradual switch didn't alter the mode of the power tubes (e.g., triode/pentode) but rather cut some gain late in the preamp.

I believe you re correct on the AB but think you are wrong on the latter. It affected the attack more than the gain. but I am no electronics guru so not positive on what it did. and don't PP amps have a presence control ? Single ended amps don't right? I don't know squat technically and don't even know wtf that means. but the K60 has no Presence control. it does have a hi cut. Amazing tone machine regardless!
