Damn it! I thought this thread was going to be Al Estrada ripping some Rhoads stuff. Not even going to click on that link. ;)
Haha maybe next time! I use to love playing Randy's stuff, I got to play a tribute show many years ago to benefit Randy's scholarship fund at The Palace in Hollywood, Rudy Sarzo was in charge of it, I got to play 'Revelation' and 'Steal Away' and we even did 'You Lookin' At Me' an obscure Ozzy B-side. I just thought some people here on this forum would want to check out this new tribute Cd..

after the reports here i have a pretty good idea of what this is and don't want a part of--tribute albums blow.

i ran in to don dokken on the stairs that night at the palace--literally--and he was wearing an all suede blue outfit with frills and his matching hat and he looked really weird.....had a bizarre paranoid expression--hit it Ethel!!! "there's no business like "snow" business--!"
i might not have seen you that night but i remember steve salas bringing the house down with some ultra stank funk!! i realized a valuable lesson that night about trying to be the king of shredding for the LA arm folders with squealing distortion over drum machine repetition, or just lock down the audience with a fat groove and fat tone and win! rock:

I feel roughly the same way the rest of do, although I didn't mind the vocals. The thing about Randy's solos is that they are a composition within a composition. I would've liked it much better if the soloists kept to the spirit of Randy's timing and phrasing. At least descend where he descends and vise versa. And actually cop a lick or two within the solo.
