Rank the Eggy Dual modules you've owned

Can you do this mod to any module? In other words, do they all have a C2 cap in that spot and if so, do they all perform the same function?

You can mod any module by adding or changing the cap values at that location. I've only done it on the "brit" module boards, ie: EG3/4, SL, SL2. Haven't tried it with T/D board. Adding a cap or increasing the cap value darkens the overall sound. Lowering the value or removing it brightens (for lack of a better word) the overall tone.

The EG3/4 is good and I so want to like it but it just needs a little bit more sparkle (although that may change after doing the cap mod like Aeroic suggested)

I can't recommend the cap change the EG3/4 enough. I loved the EG before but I can't stop playing it now. I put in a socket and tried 5 cap values all the way down to 150pf. I ended up with the 250pf and it kills. 500pf sounds great as well. Takes the blanket off but it still is buttery smooth and warm. Has a hint of the Friedman Custom 45 Vibe to it.

Can you tell me exactly which capacitor to change
I'm sure it's been gone through before , ut I'd hate to get it wrong

Is it the C2 capacitor on the vertical board that has the tube bases on?

Actually I swapped the valves in my EG3/4 to some EH ones to see what difference it would make and they were brighter than the Sovteks were
Sounds a bit better

I just swapped out the 1000pF for a 500pF on my EG3/4
Sounds great
I may even try the 250pF just to see what happens, but I think the 500pF will be best for my ears
Does a good Michael Schenker kind of tone - still nice and dark , but cutting - will have to try it with the wah wah in half cocked mode

It's a good mod man I'm gonna put my EG3/4 back to that I think. We'll see
