Recommend Metal Tone Settings for This BE-100 Setup

After all the interesting remarks on this thread I must reply. I myself have a be100 and dig the piss out of it. Cost? Not about cost if you dig something. Seeing other amps are cheaper AND more expensive its really not about cost. There are different levels of gear for most sounds you want to get. I am interested in some of the post about adding boost or eq to an amp that sounds in a class by itself and yes it cost. So I've never added anything EQ or boost wise. Doesnt mean I wouldn't like it or dont want to try. Does it seem like it should be better without any tone a pedal is going to add? Makes sense. Then again whatever makes it more fun to play and get the sounds u like. As far as cost goes anything in musical retail is jacked up over 50% !! So whether its 300 or 3k it's the same fucking your getting! Picks and strings are cheap. Cheap amps usually sound like cheap amps. In a band mix? Maybe not. Expensive anything doesnt add talent or ability however it adds desire and isnt that what everyone's looking for? Would u want gear that makes you less interested in playing? Anyone that's getting a better tone from the be100 from a pedal please post that pedal for me. I would understand enhancing the tone but better? Na!

Exception the Boss Katana* it's not a boutique amp but it to me sounds good and the OP can get the sounds hes after with that amp and the software provided with it. However it will not have the low end thump of a be100 or the dynamics. And if he needs service have fun calling or emailing China. Friedman amplification has world class service!

This setup was not my original idea. I got the idea from this video and just happen to have the same gear.

I think you need to try a Mark Series Mesa, if you havent. I think it's really a swiss army knife of tones, and cover your needs. Maybe the JP2C?

What happened with the AxeFx? Didn't do it for you?

You really didn't strike me as the modeler type. I know I can't bond with them, I don't care how far they've come, not my cup 'o tea.

In all seriousness, you should get a cheapo Randall for your Pantera thirst. Maybe a KH103, or 667 would cover that, and Metallica? But, I know where you're coming from. I gravitate towards Marshall flavors, but they don't always cover some of the heavier voicings. Sure, they can get heavy, but they do it with a Marshall flavor, no matter how you slice it. And, that's how I feel about Friedmans. They sound great, but still really have one flavor.

I know you did the Engl thing, but how about a Blackmore? Marshall flavor, with 6L6 grind.

I have a BE100 and most of the time I try to play Metallica and thrash.

I use the Akira Takasaki kind of EQ for it: mids and treble dimed and bass cut off a little bit, basically. For bedroom I also dime the presence and the gain.

It sounds good, really punchy.
