Recto 2x12?

The Recto horizontal 2x12 is my favorite cab ever. It sounded great with my Powerball II, 5153 50w, and Bogner Shiva 20th. If I wasn't doing FRFR with the Kemper, I would be using the Recto 2x12 cab exclusively.

I didn't like mine at all when I had it. Sounded boxy to me. FWIW I hated the EVH 2x12 even more. Much prefer my Splawn 2x12 over both those and that's just not the fanboi in me....it just sounds better. I've grown to love my EVH 4x12 though, much more than my SB loaded Splawn 4x12...but that EVH 2x12 had to go

The Mesa will probably work well with your new amp though

Yes, Boxy... (and all midrange) That's the way I would describe the Mesa Recto 2x12 Horizontal,
I have one and do not like it... :aww:
Luckily, I don't need to use it very often!

You know a cab that I liked that has a love/hate thing with people is the Genz-Benz G-Flex 2x12.
That cab sounded huge. I know it's ported and that's mainly why, but I think the front was angled outward which spread the sound. Some love them some hate them, I loved it

lol...it's obvious why I am Lord ToneKing and you are just Shreder...not even spelled correctly at that   ;)

I have the horizontal and like it well enough. Don't use it very much just because I prefer my 4x12 cab's but if I wanted to downsize for a gig I wouldn't hesitate to bring it. Definitely get the casters man!

You mock me? How dare you, sir!

I've had a couple of them over the years. I thought they sounded fine and projected nicely. They are a very well built cab. I will say that to transport it is a bit of a pain. I like what comes out of my Bogner 212CB much better, though.

I have a Mesa Horizontal Recto 2x12 and love it. Sounds amazing and beats out a lot of 4x12's I've owned. Mine did sound kind of boxy when new but once you get the speakers broke in nicely they really sing. Tight with plenty of low end punch but very balanced sounding all around. IMO the key is getting those speakers broken in. Can't really go by what they sound like new out of the box.

I was prepared to dislike my 2x12 when I got it. I was pleasantly surprised. It's probably one of the best sounding cabs that I've ever owned. I never would have thought that I'd like anything smaller than a 4x12.

I thought the same thing. Have always been a 4x12 guy. Then I tried out the 50 watt evh thru the matching 2x12 and was blown away with how well it projected, how huge it sounded, and how beamy it WASN'T. I've had combos and 2x12 cabs before and swore I'd never have one again. And here we are :D

Don't worry, one of my first thoughts was about buying a second one. haha

No better endorsement than that lol
