Unexpected NAD - 97ish Mesa Tremoverb 2x12

Channeling a little Gilmour and a bit of Santana there. Very tasty playing.
I think there's a bit of Gilmour in everything I play.lol
Some of the cleaner, ambient stuff on my Soundclick page is just straight up Gilmour sounding.
Like the lick at 1:30 in this:
https://www.soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14346039

Santana type stuff just comes out with those woody mid tones. A Klon or KOT into a Fendery clean channel. I think it comes from repeatedly watching Woodstock on VHS in my buddy's basement when I was 15. Never actually played a Santana tune, but this is what happens when I put a Klon in front of a DRRI:

Im7 / IV and Dorian is the Santana recipe. The Heartbreaker does that stuff. Definitely darker and bass heavy compared with other Mark I I have played on.

I have two EVM12L, two G12K-85 and a Blackbird 100. I think last count I am at about 50 12inch speakers. Vintage 30 is my favorite speaker. But that Blackbird definitely made me reevaluate how I see speakers.

Near as I can tell the power amp in the Tremoverb is not that different from a Twin. I've been able to ballpark park blackface, tweed and Vox flavors. Does it sound like these amps ? No - but it definitely gets in the general flavor.

The Triple Rectifier power amp is in the same family. The Clean channel isn't as versatile as the Clean and Blues modes on the Tremoverb. The tone stack placement, etc is different from a Twin but I have gotten very good results.

I have owned a bunch of Mesa amps since 1981. Tremoverb is my favorite. The voice and versatility.

Never had a Mesa rectifier ever, but have been thinking about trying one but a bit overwhelmed by all the different variants.. plus I am squarely a Marshall guy.. But all this Tremoverb Talk pushed me to pull the trigger on a Tverb head yesterday. Thanks for the GAS fellas.

Congrats.
Be prepared, wildly different than a Marshall anything. Takes a good while to learn how to dial em in. Worth it tho.

Looking forward to the review. It's not for everyone. But I definitely like it. It's very versatile. Definitely recommend a tube screamer type pedal to tighten up the bass for some sounds.

Thanks! I had to scratch the itch and see for myself. I will post my thoughts after I have had some some time with it. Thanks for any pointers or settings advise.. Cheers!

The dealer rep we had for MB, Steve something, always stressed cranking the mids past 1’o,’clock.

Thanks. Just got home with it.. Gonna try it out this evening..
Woohoo! Let me reiterate, not an immediate gratification type amp.
Lots to discover.
Here's where mine is set right now, getting the dual rectifier sound on orange channel, Blues mode on red. Bold, silicone, normal channel function, effects loop bypassed in the back:

I think where the mid knob is set, any of the other eq knobs really, is highly dependent on where the treble is set. Small changes in settings can't make or break a sound, imo.

Here is mý old collection of Rectifer settings. Most of these are from well known bands. Usually you need to fine tune for the rig.

Thanks. is the loopmaster dimed? I dont know my way around this amp at all. Brand new to me.. is it common practice to dime the loop master and use the channel masters? I had loop master at noonish for the few minutes I played it at the store. Have not dove in yet. All input is appreciated. Thanks.

Please do. Share the love!
I'm bypassing the loop, for now. So the knobs in back and the one on front aren't in play. Just the silver pointies.
Just recorded this clip. Orange channel at the settings above, Tele guitar volume rolled back, delay and looper going into the front of the amp. The amp is dialed in for high gain tone. I'm getting these textured, light breakup sounds rolling back the volume. Dig it!:

Think of the channel masters as your send levels for the loop, 10am to 1 is a good range. But red modern is much louder so not uncommon its volume won’t be nearly as high as the orange channel. Just adjust the loop master to how loud you need it in the room.
Majority of T-Verbs have parallel loop so just set it to 100% and leave it there. Most FX units have a blend of dry and wet you can use instead.
Also at 100% wet you can use an EQ in the loop and this opens up another array of powerful possibilities for the amp if you want to sculpt the sound.
I have the loop bypassed because I use a Powerstation’s loop for all my amps.

@LPMojoGL - great clips as usual. Really showing the versatility of these amps. I don't have a Tremoverb though. I have a Rectoverb and a Dual G modded to C. Been playing without boosts ever since that mod and the Series FX loop mod were done.

@Jdub - congrats and welcome to the recto rabbit hole  j/k it is fun hole to be in

Similar to what these guys are saying, (I like heavier music so) I am usually in red/silicone/bold with similar settings including presence up, bass down, mids up'ish, treble up but not too far. Also try treble on '0' / presence up. But even on Red - as LPMojoGL just demonstrated in that last video at the end, you can drastically change the clean to mean with just the guitar volume.

Before I had the Series FX loop/return jack mod done, I had to bypass the loop and then patch it with a cable. So that was with a Parallel loop. Now that it is Series, I am running my MXR10 and also the Boss NS-2 gate (x pattern) and am having great success with that. So if you can handle the loop issues you can then tap into overall master on front panel and obviously the loop mix and send knobs. Again - I don't have a Tremoverb

Thanks!!

I had a Rectoverb 25. Great amp for the $ and 2xel84s. Same with the Mk V 25.

I found instructions on how to do the serial loop mod. Will be implementing once I'm past my return period at GC, or when something in the emporium moves.

I also read there's a cap that needs replaced to retain bass with the effects loop engaged. Jeremy recommended bypassing the reverb/trem. Haven't found how to do that yet.
