That looks awesome!
Yeah that white cab was horrible!
Thanks man. Yeah yeah while was brutal. I will do a bunch more coats of dealer next weekend. I want a bit more durable of a finish. Also adding the logo this weekend.

So I am definitely going to try this. How many more coats of polycrylic you think? I've done 3 and sanded between each but not with too much pressure to it. More superficial.

With that many coats of poly it may be tough. I generally use lacquer so I'd usually hit it with a coat of sanding sealer, sometimes two depending on how much the stain lifted the grain, and hit it then.

What I'd suggest is testing it out somewhere that won't be exposed like the inside bottom. Since the chassis will sit there, just do some experimenting.

Yeah unfortunately, I sprayed the inside of the chassis and back of the baffle with matte black so it's a "just go for it" situation. I'll just do a couple more coats and call it. Overall I'm satisfied enough with it to be happy.also, wasn't sure whether or not to put the logo on but ummmm...
yeah it looks tits!

Hit it with some 400 with water. If you have a spray gun, it would be the ticket to get a brushless finish. But I dig it. Throw that white box in the fire, and send a mail bomb to whomever ditched the original D cab..

No spray gun unfortunately. Just rattle can Polycrylic is what I used. With the 400 grit and water, do you mean I wet the sand paper?

I have ZERO woodworking experience so the fact this looks as good as it does is a miracle.

Yes. Get 400 grit "Wet/Dry" sandpaper and wet it a little bit then sand. It helps get an even smoother, almost polished looking finish.

Speaking of Deliverance... I absolutely love the D412 with my D60 but have been wanting a D212 since forever and I'm finally getting one tomorrow, with the Fane F70G's. I'm totally excited to hear how this thing sounds and my back should appreciate it some too.

Bob, how did those F70 speakers work out for you? I just picked up an unloaded VHT 212 FatBottom and have been itching to get a pair but I'm hesitant of pulling the trigger without knowing a little more about them. How do you like them in a high gain context?
