Return to Serenity

First two Testament classics sound MUCH better on the original vinyl pressings. Yeah, I’m old and have them. Until very recently, both of them were never even remastered for digital CD release and which resulted in some of the worst analog to digital transfers ever. The remastered rereleases from around last year are much better.

Return to Senility is what it’s called when criticizing Old Testament production while holding steadfast in the belief that a certain 1994 Slayer album’s production is “perfect”

I wonder of they rerecorded that stuff to use up an album on their record deal. Like live albums or compilations. Its possible

Lots of bands do that to fulfill their obligations, but in this case I think Eric misinterpreted the terrible ADA conversions of the first two albums as "bad production" and did First Strike as a mea culpa to the "new fans" who are used to Steven slate drum samples and auto tune

Their latest, Para Bellum, is an amazing album. Prob fave album for 2025. I love the mix of old and new influences, particularly the BM style now and again.

Did you ever hear Eric's side project symphonic black metal band?

They're not bad - cheesy, but well done

I’ll have to check them out

Often listen to that cassette while working in the garage. Was awesome, back in the day.
