RIG TALK primer thread for TGP refugees

Can we change the title of this thread so the Fugees actually read it?

I propose the following:

“NAD: Dumble #186 — full clips with my Two-Rock and Bludotone for comparison”

Or

“After 6 months with my Dumble-style build, I finally understand why people cry when they hear them — emotional NAD”

I had A.I. make this for you

No, let them join and get what they deserve.

just have MM not allow Abone, Tag, The Evil Dr. X and I know everything about guitar tech AKA the annoying Walterw
we'll be OK.

we may have to break a few of the timid ones in first but theyll be fine

Walter W gave me a whole lot of great advice about live sound and live sound gear. Frankly he’s about the only thing from TGP I missed.

That tells you how long it’s been since I was banned. I was still in my infancy running sound. I haven’t even had a band or my PA rig in about 10 years now.

I agree. he knows his shit but i hate the way he always insists and doesn't listen to life experience

for instance i posted about my EC strat. i replaced the TBX with a regular 500K TP and the guitar came alive
so much more useful now.

he insisted all i had to do was turn down the TBX. I tried to explain yes i can do that but the sweep was very narrow to dial in.
didn't leave me much wiggle room

now i have a full range and wide sweep and who the fuck needs a stacked 1 meg TP with SCs

I never asked anyone there for advice about guitars or basses. I did have a lot of good conversations with Jimmy M about SVTs and bass mics. He’s the reason I bought a REDDI DI. Though I didn’t like it as much as he did. I guess it’s too much like the old B15s and shit where I’m more a 2 non pro, heavy and dirty as opposed to Jameson or all the old time shit he’s into. I did prefer it over the SansAmp but those things are pretty much shit. In the end I usually ran a DI from the Reddi and mic’ed my cab with either 421 or an RE20.

Jimmy was cool until he sucked the dick enough to tell all his friends who were republicans to unfriend him. So I did. Elliot Eastman did the same thing.

Sending long time members with 13k+ posts packing. Not sure what they expected, it's TGP, which has exemplified the worst of the guitar world since it's inception. TBH I'm kind of glad to see it crash and burn. Long time coming.

I’m surprised it took this long. That place has fucking sucked hard for more than a decade.

I always felt like it was run by a bunch of radical leftist soy boys and the same types made up the majority of the members. TDPRI and strat-talk too. It seems like there is a disproportionate number of mentally ill or unstable people on those sites. Cannot handle even minor disagreement, or conflict, without smashing that report button, lol.

I've seen some new faces lately but they are not new as far as join date. I'm sure we've scared a bunch away by this time.
If you check the home page you can see there is a bunch of "fresh faces at rig talk" but no one really posting, LOL.

About halfway down on the right:

I'm in a similar boat. Did the band thing until it became more of a headache than it was worth. Now I play for myself because that's what I like.

I take in other aspects too. Did hobby building guitars for many years. I'll still build one every now and again, but I've slowed down on that. My current ambition is building amps and cabs.
Same here, I played/gigged in bands on/off for 20 years of my life and gave it up around 12 years ago, don’t need the headaches and drama…I love playing live music, I just hate musicians. Lol
Now I just play for my own enjoyment and I’m totally cool with that.
