RIP John Anderson

I'm not a huge country music guy but John Anderson ranks among my favorite country musicians. He died today at 71 years old.

He was inspired early on by guys like Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones. Great authentic singing voice unlike the bland bro country of today. Seemed like a more genuine person than the average "star". A real down home and authentic sound. Legit honky tonk stuff. RIP John.

RIP to a real one.

Seminole Wind was the first song I heard of his. It’s a great song.

John wrote that one. Great song. If you dig into his catalog you will find he was not only a great performer but also quite a talented songwriter, which can be rare among big country music stars.

RIP John

WAY back in the day our band played his song Seminole Wind.

It was a real crowd favorite.
Nice, and I bet it was. That's still a well loved tune all these years later. Him and Eddie Rabbitt are basically my two favorite post-1980 country artists. I think I'm gonna stay up for a while and listen to his stuff. His fan base is out in force tonight on youtube. The man was just a genuine country artist, not the usual fake cowboy in a rhinestone suit or nashville bro playing up a southern accent. The real deal.
