You have to wonder if this is gonna be Ritchie´s last performance, or something along those lines. The last few years he´s only done a small handful of Blackmore´s Night shows on the east coast, presumably close to his home, and none this year. Would make sense in a way.

Absolutely is gonna be his last stand. He can barely stand. He had to get Cortizone injection in his back just for tonight‘s appearance, and his wife was joking they would tape him to a pole.

The whole band Deep Purple should’ve quit many years ago. The only young guy is the current guitar player Simon McBride, other than that they’re all ancient.
For fans, though this will be a proper closing.

I have no problem with bands playing late into their 50s, 60s, or 70s - there's tons of great older bands putting on great shows

but once it gets sad like this, where the band has to use mostly backing tracks like kiss and crue, and where the musicians are visibly enfeebled it's just gross and exploitative

Exploitative of both the fans AND the artists

Theres a limited amount of oxygen in the room, and for every band like Deep purple sucking all of it up, there are hundreds of bands waiting in the wings that deserve to breathe a little

My hero Robin Trower, IMO, should have packed it in decades ago.

If I wasn't half a country away I'd go see this in a heart beat. It's like a $40 ticket and if it's shit, OK.

IMO this isn't a Johnny Winter situation. Ritchie is frail but in possession of his faculties and with a caring family.

he's gigged with night for the last couple years, I can only hope this deep purple thing is him hanging it up
