No, economic viability is being able to sell most or all of the size venue you want to play. If you have a group that can consistently sell well in 2000 seat theaters there's no shortage of those either. Same goes for 500 seat clubs.

Simply put there is no venue shortage. There is a successful act shortage.

I have no problem with bands playing late into their 50s, 60s, or 70s - there's tons of great older bands putting on great shows

but once it gets sad like this, where the band has to use mostly backing tracks like kiss and crue, and where the musicians are visibly enfeebled it's just gross and exploitative
