pfffft the Pod X3 gets close enough to the Van Halen tone...why spend all that money on amps and mods and stuff...you know.
Plus you have to wait for mods, sometimes very long...the Pod is right there in front of you all the time, no mods needed, just VH tone...plus you need a cable, but so does an amp, so...

and here's a cool looking RED PM for sale, by a guy Brian Bunn who plays in a band i mentioned a while ago, decemberadio. they played at our church touring with the Newsboys and i hung out with Brian and sampled some hermida pedals with him--great player which you can see on one of my YT vids where he plays the zendrive through his matchless combo in concert.

they rock and he plays solos old school style, and they won Christian rock album of the year "Satisfied" chock full o Peacemaker tones, and were grammy nominated.
Man I'm actually considering buying this.

Lately I've been gassing for a Komet or a Trainwreck style amp but sometimes I feel like an amp like that would sound too smooth/polite for my style.

Some of the clips I hear of the PM have that aggressiveness that I LOVE... Some of them sound like a fizzy mess with a loose bottom end... Which mostly happens when I hear people trying to cop the VH tone. I'm not interested in it for VH tones, I'm interested in it for the more refined JMP sound with that aggressive edge and nice bottom end, without thinning out like some Superleads tend to do.

My Superbass has what I love, but it hums loud as all hell and it seems a bit inconsistent from day to day. I have eard some really cool clean/mild break up clips of the PM as well, which makes it all the more tempting...

Cute but you dont have a leg to stand on RALPH. You have been on the internet long enough.

im not talking about an amp that will help you with vh, thats the last thing im talking about. if you can play it then you should be able to do everything unplugged on an electric that is vs. plugged in. do you need a hot rodded acoustic to play orange blossom special?

You should try a peacemaker. I never get that fizzy sound or loose bottom. I never have tried to mimic eddie though.
Stock it sounds warm, aggressive, full
and yes, when you don't turn it up for the gain, you get great cleans and break up
I recorded some cleans and semi dist part son the peacemaker
and it worked for me for getting that kind of power pop vibe, but the cool thing is when I did those sorts of things, it still has this "mojave" sound no matter what guitar you use or how little gain you have. I can't explain, but it sound "alive"
You could get every tone you need for recording with it especially if you had some different speakers to experiment with
I bet the cleans would sound killer through a 2x12 w/ alnico blues

Send some of that my way!!

mark cameron said on Metro's forum that EVH slaved his prized "jose modded" plexi into other amps (jtm45 and vox AC of some sort) when recording VH 1 & II

if we could hear what EVH's plexi sounded like naked and unslaved I'll bet it would sound close to this

So is this your old amp that is the subject of that Metro thread?

I like how he picks his nose and wipes it on his pants right b4 he unleashes!!!!!

I posted your link into that Metro thread Mark. Sorry bro, it had to be done. Typical Peacemaker bashing going on in there by disgruntled current and former owners. I thought your clip might be a bit of a reality check for them.

What kind of EQ did you use and where did you place it? None of my EQ's have 2.2k or 6.6k available as sliders.

The combo is an old Mesa Studio 22, so it has the typical Boogie 5 band eq - 80 240 750 2200 6600. I set a Hotplate to load and lined out of the PM into the fx return of the boogie. That bypasses the preamp, so none of the tone controls are funtional but the Presence, Graphic and MV all work. I think I goosed the front end of the PM with a Duncan Pickup booster, as well. I used the LO input and the Treble volume was around 8.

Hey dude are you still landscaping i have not talk you in many moons.
