Rumors of a Mark 6/7 coming on Tuesday?

MEH.. I played Boogies for years. I couldn't be more NOT into this amp.
I paid $2250 new for a V. WTF am I getting for tnearly twice the price??
 
As a mark IVA owner, cool, but I don't see myself ditching my mark IVA for one. Will be interested to see where these fall once they have been out for a few years.
 
I agree it sounds good in the boogie video, not enough to make me want to run out and buy one. I'm probably still in the honeymoon phase with the 25w mkV though.

It'll be cool if they have JP do a demo video soon.

I like it. I like it a lot. And put it in a long head shell, dammit.
 
I can’t understand what’s new or unique to this amp? Hope people here get their hands on one soon and educate me on subject. And being back to one GEQ instead of two like J2PC speaks cost reduction to me.

Even simulclass in this seems half assed, no el34+6l6 combo possible. And weren’t these same people saying simulclass trannies are unavailable, that is why JP2C didn’t have it? Or am I trippin? I read something along the lines here on the forum I guess. Correct me if I am wrong.

The good thing is the trannies are massive, like on J2PC. Interesting, how much does it contribute to the end product.

The JP2C is not simul-class because it’s based on John Petrucci’s preferred Mark IIC+ HRG that is non-simul class. That is also my preferred IIC+. I find the simul-class Mark amps tend to sound smoother & more compressed, which I don’t like, but they seem to also be a bit tighter/faster, which I like. Also, although mixing 6L6’s & EL34’s in simul-class amps sounds cool on paper, most tend to prefer the sound with just 6L6’s, but not sure how it’ll translate on a Mark 7

Absolutely agreed on your tone findings on simul class, I’ve also found possibly slightly darker tone on the top end.

There was a split in the production run on the JP2C and Badlander amps when they went back to Schumacher, that are now made in Mexico, which imo are not as high quality made as the USA made classic tone. I’m also not a fan of the older looking tolex over the black taurus. With that being said the clips sound awesome. The mark series amps so depended on the graphic eq to shape the tone having only one really limits your ability to have 2 or 3 very different sounding channels in my opinion.

Yeah, I now remind that the tranny unavailability was In 2c+ Reissue context, not the JP2C. Thank you for correcting me.

Oh, so they switched the transformer company. Bad, too bad. If I ever go for JP2C, gotta go for earlier ones then. But I heard there were some loop improvements made later, iirc.

Tolex too, I would expect taurus. And one GEQ limitations are truly obvious. And why the hell won’t they bring the lead drive knob back.

All in all, looks like miracles won’t happen and kidney will have to be exchanged for a real 2c+.

Multiple mode spots given to Fat and Crunch
New Mark VII mode designed for channel 2 as opposed to channel 3
“IIC” mode, not “IIC+“ mode
No extreme mode
No shred switch
Still no “Drive” control

All signs are really starting to point to this amp having been designed around being more mellow in character and a lower gain overall Mark amp than any Mark in the past 30 years if not more.

Not sure I love that.

Whelp, sorry fam, but big bummer this morning.

Yesterday, I saw the charge from Sweetwater appear on my credit card and my order status was changed to "Ready to Ship." However, I didn't see a shipment notification yesterday afternoon, so I called and spoke to a Sales Engineer (not my usual guy; he was out yesterday) and he said the amp was boxed and awaiting pickup by FedEx.

This morning, I awoke and did not see a shipment notification from Sweetwater. So I texted my sales engineer and the other guy responded with this message.

So it looks like Sweetwater never got them in, despite other retailers having it in stock. I politely voiced my frustration and said I had preordered to avoid this exact scenario, and that I wanted one shipping to me the day of release. I even noted that other retailers appear to have it in stock.

I asked the rep for an ETA on the amp arriving at Sweetwater and he doesn't have one so I cancelled my order.

At this point, I'm pretty bummed so I'll skip this one for now. What a let down.

Sorry to the guys who were waiting to get some opinions on this today. I'm bummed.

Mine not shipping until April. I think most are preorders.
