I'm with you. With Satch's new stuff, I usually love half of it right away and hate the other half. Eventually, it all grows on me, but there's always one or two tunes on each release that I don't like.Megadeth7684":3vmuqlc9 said:I've been listening to Satch's newest CD and I really like it.
As for the new disc, I love "I Just Wanna Rock" despite the corny gang chorus vocals. I wish he'd left that junk out, but the playing on that tune just rips! "Asik Vaysel" is one of the best Satch tunes ever. I find myself listening to that driving bassline panned all the way to the right more than the guitar parts sometimes. "Andalusia" is cool, it's nice to hear him play some classical/spanish style acoustic- he doesn't do that often.
Aside from the musical content, I love the production on the last few Satch cds. The drum sounds are so good, and the basslines can be heard really well, too. It's easy to listen to the individual instruments in the tunes.
I'm loving the new disc, but for me, there's no topping Crystal Planet. That's my all time favorite Satriani.
