Was that gain all the way up on the pedal also? Sounds nasty

Thanks for your advice. Unfortunately i don't have the skills to solder in the Amp. I soldered cables and pickups but that's about it.When you remove the cable between the Master pot's wiper and the following coupling cap what goes to the 1st grid of the driver tube and put in a 100k resistor instead then the amp fattens up much earlier.
Thanks again.Yeah OSDM = Old School Death Metal. Nothing to do with Swedish stuff.
That tone is definitely more akin to Obituary et al. Me likey!
Interesting. Thank you. A few weeks ago i made a comparison clip of the 2203 compared to a Mesa Triple Rectifier with a bit more volume and a different Microphone Position. The Marshall was much bigger sounding in the room, because of the "lack" of compression. Recorded they are not very far off from each other. I think the typical characteristics that are associated with the Amps shine through well .When you additional remove the cable between that coupling cap and the 1st grid of the driver tube and put in a 220k resistor instead, then you avoid high frequency oscillation (around 60-80 kHz), what often occures unheard in these amps and what's robbing lows.
EDIT: I was thinking too quick. Not a 220k, but a 47k in the mentioned spot is plenty. But...
... but a 220k resistor instead of the cable from the junction of the 470k/470p-470k to the 1st grid of V2, the preamp tube, where the 100k resistor is across the tube socket.
Did you see my latest 2203 vs Triple comparison? I used a bit more volume in that clip. But also a different mic position.Yeah. That was probably the priblem. I always record at volume
No you wouldn't loose anything with this minor mods, because they don't alter the gain or frequencies of the amp, but only stabilize a delicate and vulnerable system.Would i lose something with this mod? I read somwhere that when i gain something, in regards to modding, i would lose something else. Sounded right to me.
Ok, i get it, thanks. If i only had the skills... I think my "wish-mod" for a 2203 would be KT88 in the Poweramp a little simple gain mod and a Depth-Pot.No you wouldn't loose anything with this minor mods, because they don't alter the gain or frequencies of the amp, but only stabilize a delicate and vulnerable system.
Every good tech can accomplish this and it doesn't require Larry-ish skills.Ok, i get it, thanks. If i only had the skills... I think my "wish-mod" for a 2203 would be KT88 in the Poweramp a little simple gain mod and a Depth-Pot.
No. Link itDid you see my latest 2203 vs Triple comparison? I used a bit more volume in that clip. But also a different mic position.
Damn it. Now i want to buy a marshall just to do the modNo you wouldn't loose anything with this minor mods, because they don't alter the gain or frequencies of the amp, but only stabilize a delicate and vulnerable system.
No. Link it
I had a few 2203s modded over the years. I always came back to the Stock Version. It works for over 50 years now. But i may change my mind again.Every good tech can accomplish this and it doesn't require Larry-ish skills.
Where did the woman go, btw.? I haven't seen her here in a while. nowyourplayingwithpower?I love those riffs. Now i kind of want to write a ridf over those drums. I miss riff warz
She's been in my house for two weeks and actually just wanted to try out my Thor's Hammer...Where did the woman go, btw.? I haven't seen her here in a while. nowyourplayingwithpower?
It is a bit opaque. She claimed others were sharing her personal information. Others claimed she was sharing theirs.Where did the woman go, btw.? I haven't seen her here in a while. nowyourplayingwithpower?
I think 99% of people here want to try that amp, irregardless of their feelings for you personally. She's been in my house for two weeks and actually just wanted to try out my Thor's Hammer...
... but she just can't stop playing this amp since then![]()
