I have searched a bit, but whats the general concensus of scumbacks for heavy rock/metal? Ive got a spare cab im gonna use in a stereo, or wet/dry rig. Right now its got 75's and one of them are blown. Would like to get a pair to mix with them...

M75 / H75 combo works well for me.

Or you could just go with straight J75s (65 watters). I have a J75/H55 mix in my Bogner OS212 cab and they sound awesome for hard rock and metal. I am planning on putting all J75s in my Marshall BHW cab sometime this year.

H75 and a V30 work great together. That's what's in my splawn 212

I love the J's. I mix them with the M's and it's great for me. I'd say J's for your hard rock/metal stuff. Or even J/H mix. Haven't heard many who have tried that one, but it would seem to make sense to me.

The H's are really bright so they could work well for dark amps. I use regular Greenbacks so why not.

Def not looking for bright. Good to know about the h's then. Looking for rich mids and low end thump

I use 65 watt M75's with the large dust cap. Love them.

What are the m's like? I cant understand the letter designations.

cool thanks

looks like the m-75 or m-75 ld would be about right.

Yes, the M75's are a great speaker. Much more warmer than the H. Just watch some Pete Thorn video.

Thanks i just watched it. Definitely helped

I have h75's paired with mg music black dogs (which are also made with weber parts, somewhat similar to the silver bell and j75 models)
I wouldn't say the h75's are bright
they surely have a strong attack, but the overall voicing leans to the darker side of the mids
quite punchy and bass heavy speakers
got them in an amazing deal with Capulin Overdrive
if I could choose from clips, I'd pick the m75's, which are warmer and more midrange centered
but for metal, the big punch of the h75's is amazing
they are pretty similar to actual celestion g12h30's, but they seem to sound slightly fuller and punchier, without the top end harshness

I'd vote for the BM75s with the large dust cap. I have always found reissue Greenbacks and G12-65s too flat sounding, especially the 65s. I love the Blackbacks for moderate to high gain.

going back and reading it again, which one is the most similar to a high wattage greenback>? is that the m? sorry for the stupid q's ive got a greenback cab and its always my favorite, but would like something that could handle more watts...

 I didn't see the J's on the reference chart. What are they similar too?

The J series are not similar to anything pre-rola, etc. They are basically in between the M and H series and pretty much the same as mixing and M and H together, which is a very popular combo (M75/H75 mix). Great speaker IMO.

Yes, the M/J mix are great. I had this pair in a Bogner OS212 and they sounded great. I decided to go with the J75/H55 and I like it even better. It added more low end thump to the OS 212 just as Hollywood did for his OS212.
