Seymour Duncan JBJ vs Modern JB Trembucker, and some ToneNerd Sunset Strip

Installed the JBJ in my Explorer, and have to say, I preferred it in the Strat. My Explorer is kind of dark/thick sounding, and the JBJ has more low end than the modern JB.
The JBJ, with the extra lows and greater detail, works really well to beef up the Strat.

If anyone is curious...

It's an unfair battle IF you are comparing any SD with a Tone Nerd. A more fair fight might be including an MCP instead of the TN. I find SDs, even MCPs sounding flat vs Scott's stuff. It's tragic that they aren't made anymore.
The only pickups I have that compare well to the TNs are the 2 vintage Shaw DFs....

Scott's pups are dialed in, quality. I wish I had grabbed a Whiskey before he moved. It's a great all arounder, like the Sunset, but with a different vibe/feel.

He made so many good one-offs that he'd bring over for me to check out. One ceramic he had in a Kramer was astounding. Absolutely loved it, and was floored when he told me it was ceramic.

Now he just calls me every once in a while to tell me how many guitars he has, because they're all awesome and cheap over there.
