Decided to through a JB jr into my strat for some more rock-based stuff. While it definitely doesn't sound like its big brother, it definitely doesn't suck. Has a nice punch to it that doesn't overwhelm the stock single-coils.

I have one in parts caster I built and I love it. Very chunky sounding yet less farty than the full size in my experience. Only drawback is its quite a bit noisier than the HB version when you use an OD boost with it.
