If they were all that and then some, why weren't they thought of and manufactured back in the 70's when silver was cheaper and tonal purists were still around, living and well? This to me smacks of era-specific marketing. Nobody in their right mind would blow $50K on a Dumble, $1200 on a cable, or [this] kinda money on a pup. But there are people out there who want to own the best of the best, and somehow this redeems their otherwise lacklustre playing skills. Too much money on their hands, and no time to play. This product is the shit that gets in those types of peoples' mental space and to them, it's the ultimate in 'perfection', whereas their actual dedication to playing, making time to learn and improve their craft, all come secondary because THAT's actually the hardwork. You can't buy your own talent, no matter what is priced at what, passion is free, and dedication is a bitch - there are NO shortcuts.

I want to own the best but put equal Time into my playing. Don't generalize and forget there is group of us who CAN play and STILL want to go audiophile with it.

i use silver cables and solid silver wire in my guitar. There was adifferencefference in clarity over my copper cables. Then i wired my guitar with solid silver wire. The difference is easy to hear. Silver is also the most conductive metal. These are the reasons i would like to try silver pickup wire. I will definite try a bridge model one day to satisfy my own curiosity.

Try some silver wire in your guitar first. If you enjoy the results you'll soon understand the desire to experiment with silver pickups.

Here is the 22 guage teflon coated wire I use. Get abou $30 worth and re wire a familiar guitar before you knock these pickups based on price and lame lattice marketing.

They also have great ofc copper wire .

I had a thread on these on TGP a few weeks ago, joking about repelling werewolves at gigs and eventually it got out of hand and the CEO and VP from Duncan came on there.

I didn't mean to imply that Duncan was trying to rip anyone off or be dishonest , he's still got all his old copper pickups, but guys took it too far- I was just kidding.

What the!! If someone buy those, wouldnt he need to have silver in all his signal chain to not destroy the mystic tone?

How many tones that we know and love were recorded with silver-wound pickups? How much more "clarity" is needed over traditional copper (if my Anderson was any more "clear" I would think it would become harsh and sterile)? Different isn't necessarily better...I simply can't see this being a game changer. I hope that I'm wrong but most likely I'm not.

I see it as Seymour Duncan trying to cash in on the boutique crowd. I can't really blame them for trying it, I mean they are running a business. Their pickups are generally well respected, but are kind of the Mesa Boogie of pickups, they used to be boutique, now they are much more common and those often overlooked by the boutique crowd.

If you can tell a persons skill on the guitar by how much money they make, you're a better man than me. You should go to vegas and bet on horses or something with a talent like that, maybe then you too can be rich!

These ought to go over well on TGP.

I'm going to buy a bunch up and send a free pair to either Larry Carlton or Robben Ford. I will then use Youtube clips of them playing at clinics with their fragile harmonics and improved sustain and I will quadruple my money selling them on TGP as the wait list from Duncan goes up. Similar to the Tim/Timmy and Bludotone effects.

It's bound to work!

Think I can get a small bank loan approved to buy a set for all my guitars?
