I am selling my Mesa MarkV for 1,800 or best offer one of my friends asked me if I wanted to trade him for a EVH 5150-3 50 watter and his Gibson Studio Pro. What do you guys think? I was Entertaining the idea of getting a 5150 anyway not sure If I want the gibson not a huge fan them I might end up ebaying both Items tho.

No. I'd never do that deal.

If you don't dig the LPS then don't bother wasting the time.

5153 is less than a grand new, $700 used. The Studio is only worth about $800 on it's best day. Your friend is trying to hose you sir. I say thee nay.

Tell him the EVH and a grand cash or get to steppin...

Do you guys think I am asking too much for the MarkV

Yes and No.

Ebay says they are trending at $1,700 but I see several that have bene sold for under $1,500. One as low as $1,325. I am sure they paid $100 or so for shipping but if it was me i would probably say $1,600 shipped.

However others will pay more. GC has a couple right now for $1,750 and $1,850.

In my honest opinion if the $1,800 includes shipping I say that is absolutely a fair price however I would hold out for a better deal because I try to save $ when I can.

Thank you so much for the advice I have only shipped a head one other time and can't remember how much it cost. I reposted it 1800 shipped thing is mint tho ;)

You should be able to ship that for $75 or so. I just shipped a Mark IV to NewWorldMan and it was about that. Keep in mind it went from NY to DC.

Only shipped a head one other time is it expensive?

Expensive compared to not doing it right and then the amp is wrecked? No. You can take it to FedEx or UPS and have them do it and ship it for around $100. If they pack it, they have to pay the claim if it's damaged....they have really strict rules about how something has to be packed before they'll pay out your claim.

If you don't know how to do it, let THEM do it and eat the cost, man. It's better than shipping an amp, having it arrive broken, them telling you you have no claim because you packed it wrong and then being out the money you have to refund to your buyer as well.

If you're an amp shipping noob IT'S JUST NOT WORTH IT.

Agree with this as well. I shipped an amp. Packed it tighter than a nun's butthole and when UPS told me they won't cover insurance we opened it up, I let them pack and shook my head in shame because my packing was better and more secure then theirs but hey whatever it takes.

Ultimately it is your amp and I know people are not into giving away free or next to nothing guitar amps. :)

I was just giving my honest opinion I do think $1,800 shipped is more than fair if it is mint but I would not take that trade offer either.

thanks soo much guys this is all good info and very very helpful

not to derail your thread or ad but I have a Mark V listed way lower than you and it is also mint, no takers as of yet. So if yours sells here, then I am really confused.

Better chance of selling it on ebay.

Talibaba just sold one for $1,700 + shipping recently.

I doubt he sold it for that price.

Very true, if they are listed above about $1500-1600 they sit and they sit and don't sell, regardless of whether the seller thinks it is mint or not. I recently traded mine straight across for another piece of gear listed at $1400

Either that or lower your price so it'll move. Hard to do, but almost necessary to sell anything anymore. I've seen Triple Recs just sit there at $900 for weeks.

So should I just find a decent trade deal then?

If you need the $ I would. If you like it and don't mind waiting then don't. Tough call.

$1,500-$1,600 on eBay minus $150 fee plus 3% PayPal. If you go that route, might as well sell for $1,500 shipped on here or whatever.

Not that you can't get it eventually but I'd you're looking to sell fast you'll have to give an insane price.

It's the holidays and everyone is selling gear for Xmas money.

Did you see that guy that sold 3 decent cabs for $500 total??? Insane. Wish I didn't miss out on that.

yeah i guess i should be patient i don't need the money right now

December is a month to buy
Only used gear that sells are the crazy good deals

I would hold out. Bad time to sell. Mk5 is also not the flavor of the month anymore. Wait til tax return season.
