Thanks, it's basically a Mayones Duvell Elite, but with a black limba body and a koa top. The other specs are the regular ones, i.e. Seymour Duncan Nazgul/Sentient, 5 piece Bubinga Wenge neck, ebony fretboard etc.

This is from a limited run ordered by a very cool small guitar shop in Belgium called Guitar Candy. They made 10 6-strings and 10 7-strings. That was 2 years ago.

Nowadays you can order a koa top through the Mayones custom shop, but the black limba body is still not available

Somebody offered me one of these as a swap for my Regius. I was really tempted, but the lack of tone knob put me off. I'd be interested to hear some thoughts on it.

No problem. I note that I only ever played one Regius, which was from the custom shop as well, with a buckeye burl top and Bare Knuckle Juggernauts.

In my recollection, the finish was on par, but the Regius had more work going into it as it had 3-ply binding all over. What I did not like about the Regius was that it has the quite rounded body at the back, which always cost me extra effort to keep it where I wanted (I read a couple of days ago that somebody else had the same issue, so I am not the only one). The Duvell stays where I put it as it is less rounded.

The Duvell is bolt-on and in my opinion a bit snappier / more percussive than the neck-through Regius that I played. I also like the Duvell's neck profile better but maybe for the Regius there are more profiles available. It stays in tune great and the neck does not change much when I set it up in different tunings. However, I would say that the necks on my PRS guitars are stiffer.

Playability-wise it can be set up as a shredder's dream, but I play mostly rhythm and hit hard so I need a bit higher action.

This guitar sounds very clear and very snappy, even with the Nazgul pickup. Keep in mind that my guitar has different woods than the regular model (which has a mahogany body with an eye poplar or flame maple top). The cleans are more on the modern, 'colder' side of things. That being said, I do not miss the tone knob at all, but I am more a guy that has everything on 10

All in all a great guitar, I would say my number 2 behind my PRS Modern Eagle 2.

I'm not sure if it can all be done with the Fractal but with the Helix and the 4 loops and main outs I'm pretty sure it's all doable. You'd essentially be running in double 4 cable method into each head if I'm wrapping my head around things correctly. Loop 1 would be TS9, loop 2 input and FX send of VH4, loop 3 input and FX send of Herbert, left 1/4" out VH4 FX return, right 1/4" out Herbert FX return. Then you can place the TS9 before the preamps of the VH4 and Herbert along with modeled pedals like a phase 90 for example and put delays post VH4 and Herbert preamps. You can then also bypass the Herbert and VH4 preamps and sub in modeled preamps from the Helix feeding direct into the power sections of the Herbert and VH4 bypassing their preamps with and without your TS9 before those modeled preamps if you wanted and delays and whatnot after them. You can also just run guitar > TS9 > herbert + VH4 dry left and right. I think you could also run guitar >TS9 > Herbert or VH4 preamp only out to both power sections so you end up with essentially a double Herbert or double VH4. The Helix has two separate DSP paths, the two lines on the screen, so you can link them together to form one long chain or you can use them independently and have the top line doing things for only the Herbert and bottom only VH4 and this is all reconfigurable based on the preset, with no physical rewiring needed, just on screen re-routing. It can get a bit complex trying to wrap your head around it since there are several ways to do things but I'm pretty sure the way I mentioned wiring it would do everything you want and more. The only tricky part will be possible ground loops since we're talking two heads in four cable method, this is true for any 4CM rig really and certainly not Helix specific. It may be no problem with zero hum or it may cause some hum and need some isolation transformers, but unfortunately that's impossible to predict from amp to amp and configuration to configuration. It can basically do anything you ask it for with the only tricky part being figuring out the best way to get it to do what you want.

Now I "need" a Helix. Crap!

Fuck dude, those Aria Urchin series are the shit. That was my second guitar when i was young, they look, play, sound and feel fantastic. Super great quality guitars. Still have mine but i sanded the neck and had some frets scalloped, stupid things you do when your young. I need to geg it going again. One of my favorite guitars i had!!!!!

I agree, the urchin is definitely an underrated and or unknown guitar. I would have to say the quality of the U100 I would put up against the best US Made guitars any day. The action is insanely low, and still playable, most guitars would buzz horribly and fret out everywhere. The U60T & U Deluxe are on par with any US Made guitars for sure. I never knew about them until I ran across the U60T at a local pawn shop with a horrendous paint job, so Instripped it, then Tung oiled it. I'm on the look out for a U70 now!

I use them all when i record or play live at some point. Does that count?

IMHO, a rig is only a system that you play through individually. Meaning, if you have to unplug ANYTHING to play through something different, than it's not part of the current rig you are playing through.

Yep, and it's usually the same guys that don't seem to get the "rig" concept and just post everything in these threads year after year. I don't know if they are thinking they are trying to impress, or actually don't get what a rig is. Beats me.
