Similar Threads

This started popping up recently at the bottom of thread pages, never noticed it before. The odd part is threads listed are not similar at all, so what's the purpose? Steering readers to those threads for no other reason than the (askew) algorithm wants you to look?
No big thing, just curious.

I think this thread was down at the bottom of another similar thread, and this thread showed up in that Similar Threads section.

Yeah, not a fan because often times, when scrolling it can appear that these 'similar threads' are part of the forum I am in and just at the bottom of said forum.

If that does not make sense, please read it again and again like I had to

I'm guessing that the hierarchical path of each thread in the pop-up list isn't there in the interests of efficiency.

If there were even 4 or 5 they wouldn't fit on the page.

PS: It is copy/paste not paste and copy and it is people's as in a possessive noun. Oh and, 'It's pretty lazy' as in 'it is'. I know that can be confusing.
