Saw the way this works first hand when Dave left the first time. I worked with Paul Bostaph getting the gig and they treated him like crap for 10 years. They played games with John Dette and finally convinced Dave to rejoin. Now he's gone. Rule #1 of Slayer Club.... don't ask where the money's going. Kerry and Rick don't like it! Dette's with Anthrax now, Paul has several projects going and just finished recording with Geoff Tate. So who's gonna sit behind the kit now?

I know Paul and have met Jeremy, but don't know their bass player or the new guitarist. I know they're still looking for a singer.

I know Luis, he's a friend of mine from when I was trying to get into biotech. Great dude, and killer bass player.

I've never liked Slayer...some of the worst guitar playing ever committed to tape, not to mention absolute garbage production. They suck, they've always sucked, and they'll continue to suck...talentless hacks.

I hung out with Tom once though and he's a cool dude

uhhh.. ok dude. Well, its your opinion of course, and the fact IS... that the group you say always and continues to suck... have etched their name in metal history and any band will agree that they are legendary in the genre.. As far as talent.. there is always someone better.. sure, but millions of people around the world just didnt go out since 83 and buy slayer merch for nothing...

Back in the day, when this genre was first being born.. Slayer stood their own and were in a class all by themselves.. and built a cult following.

Be nice to Slayer dude...

I loves me some heavy music, always have, and yea, everyone gets an opinion....But I saw Slayer on Mayhem this past summer (I'd never seen them live before, and never really enjoyed their music), and I thought it was terrible. It's like they tried to cover up the show by giving the audience a headache with over-the-top volume (did I mention they followed Motorhead, and Slayer was STILL too loud?) and constant strobes, including strobing the blinders, for 45 minutes.

I guess I just don't get Slayer.

I wonder if they're pissed he's been playing with his other band Philm. I played a show with them on the bill once and he was a totally humble cool guy. Fuck Kerry King.

dave lombardo=super talented, diverse, defined a style and will most definitely survive and prosper.

kerry king- a pudgy bald one trick hack[if even that] who is extremely lucky to be in the right place at the right time and sadly will also survive playing the same out of key solos and unsynchronized garbage picking that he has for the last 30 years

first Bill Ward and now Lombardo. fuckers everywhere.

+1000. I'm not a huge Slayer fan by any means, but do dig some of there stuff. KK is definitely the weak link in that band tho, a-hole.

I fart in the direction of Slayer and hold their guitar tone in disdain.

I think it sucks that they are firing Dave , he is great, but I don't get all the slayer hate. Almost every album they made up through mid nineties is great. I saw them live a bunch back throughout they yrs and they killed live. I haven't listened to them for some time and just this week through on their live decade of aggression double album and it still kills all these yrs later. Kerry may very well be a dickhead but I still like a lot of their work.

I couldn't care less about anything involving Slayer. Kerry King is a huge douche anyway.

Kerry is the Angus Young of metal. Doesn't matter who's behind the kit, their next album is gonna sound just as dated as their last 5 or more. Dave outgrew Slayer years ago as far as talent is concerned.

:lame:

+1. I don't care what anyone says I love 'em. Their latest few have not been their greatest but they have an attitude and aggression in their sound that I rarely hear anyone even touch. Plus I dig Tom's voice. I will say the good thing about Dave not doing the tour is maybe they'll play more Bostaph era songs in the set because there's so much good stuff there.

Pathetic I say. It is one thing for a replacement, but Dave was one of the originals. I don't know why it is not split even....

Also, I'd go so far as to say that during his absence from Slayer, Dave really grew as a musician by taking on projects from multiple genres. I'd say that increases his worth and value as a musician unlike the stagnant KK.

Even people who don't like metal acknowledge Reign in Blood as an all time top 10 metal album. That album is every bit as classic, timeless and downright electrifying as Back in Back, Appetite for Destruction, 1984, etc.

That's crazy. Oh well, he can do better! Quick Metallica, fire Lars and hire Dave while you can, lol...always wanted to hear a full album of James and Dave together, regardless of who is on lead or bass...'tis a dream though, I know. Good luck to him, not that he needs it! Cheers

I don't think so, was in la a few years back swung by the Philm recording session and went to a gig that night. I asked Dave if he had any conflict with salter and he said the slayer dudes are friendly with the Philm dudes, I don't think that had anything to do with it.
