Sounds like it's going to be like one of those $4k Tylers with the natural finished forearm relief area. You may actually increase the value of the guitar

I say do it and we need pics, before, DURING, and after.

PS. I can't wait until Bob does this and we all laugh at him after. There's going to be years of "remember when we all convinced Savage to butcher his Vigier?"
Except those are on guitars with psychadelic paint jobs not pretty tops.

I really wouldn't have done that myself. If I had that problem I would look towards adjusting my technique before hogging wood off, but its your guitar. ;)

If you have a great sounding and playing guitar that you know you are not going to get rid of then why not is how I see it. Even Gibson has at last figured it out not to listen to collectors and make changes to the tugboat so that it will play better.

Hot damn that looks great!

In Guitar Player there is a company that will do that for your acoustics somehow, cant remember the name.

Here's a couple without the tape. It was a little difficult shooting with the flash so the front view is still at a slight angle. Keep in mind that I have to wait a few days before I can use a polishing cloth on the clear coated area.

That looks better than I thought it would. Besides that, while you're playing your forearm will cover most of it. Good job!

Exactly, and now the guitar feels fantastic to play!

By the way, I forgot to reply to Chris' "stand up and play" post... I play this guitar standing up all of the time but it was the same standing as it was sitting. Problem solved...

Thanks Scott!

Yup!!! Feels great, Sounds like s#!t!!!!
You find something that sounds like you want it to, plays like you NEED it to, and the mod if only SLIGHTLY affects tone, YOU GO FOR IT, cause you'll wait 4ever trying to get something 'off the rack' to play perfectly, and I've had too many 'custom built' POS's in my hands and didnt have the heart to tell someone they spent 2-3k on something some homely Frankenstein POS would Kill in a 'taste test'.. Its so fkn hard to find that combo of feel and tone thats appropriate to the individual player. You do what you got to put that bitch in shape, and let the photos fly!!!!!

Dude, that's some ballsy sh.. stuff. Looks great!!

Nicely done.

Hahahah, yeah, doing this reminded me of the good old days in the early 80's when I used to take spray paint and saws to my gear on a regular basis.

That's killer Bob!!

I did the same thang to 3 Jackson 7 strings I have. Wood chips flying!

Great job :)

Hmm, turned out whiter than I thought it would, based on the earlier picture. I think it still looks great, though. Nice job, Bob!

Wow Bob, that looks Great! couple coats of clear, buffing wheel, and your done

Great job: imho it looks better now than it did before the mod.

Looks great and I'm sure it plays great. That was a gutsy move.

I didn't like the color of the finger board position markers on a pair of Ibanez JS 1000 guitars that I own...hard to see in a dimly lit bar. I drilled the suckers out and replaced them with nice big bright ones. They came out great.

Sometimes you just have to go for it.

That turned out pretty good Bob. Call up Vigier and get them a pic. Make sure your patent the "Savage" mod and get your cut of the profits ;)
