So I finally pulled the trigger on a Fryette Powerstation ....

In lieu of my hopefully up coming youtube channel / website .... I started purchasing some gear that will hopefully help out the situation ..

I grabbed a Fryette PS-2A ...... @Rottweiler tried talking me into the PS-100 .... but other than liking 6550's a little more than 6L6's .... the extra channel stuff I don't think was needed ... from the vids I saw it was more about a " live " situation

so now that I have that .... would upgrading my interface makes sense ??? I just have one of the simple 2 port deals from PreSonus ...

is there some other stuff I'll need to go along with the PS-2A .... I have Reaper ... and not worried about the software portion of things yet ..

I'm talking hardware ... other than lights and cameras ...

Now you need a 72 or earlier NMV Marshall. 👍🏻

it definitely is going to open up some tonal options .... that could definitely be one of them ..... I've stayed away from a lot of amps because they don't have loops .... that will change I think
Man a vintage Marshall, or even a nice Uncle Waynzo clone, would be sick used only with your favorite boost up in front of it.

I LOVE my PS2.

It’s one of those things that, even if I’m not currently using it, I will never get rid of. So many uses! I’m currently using it as an attenuator and master effects loop for 4 amps in conjunction with my KHE amp switcher. Stellar.

In the past, I’ve used it as a power amp for various preamps/modelers. Are there better power amps? Yes, IMHO, but it gets the job done quite nicely.

Like I said, one piece of gear I’ll probably never part with.

I've been running the Super Doopah in front of my class 5 at about 2 o clock. Killer combination.
I wish I had a little class 5 for rocking out around the house or a grab and go rehearsal amp. A lot of times we'll just rough out demos of new material. Sucks lugging a Twin over to my bros for that kinda stuff. I been looking at those ZT lunchboxes. @FelixOnStrings let me try his, 120 watts of ss power and not a bad sound for what it is....

I'm really looking forward to running this into the Powerstation ...

I use mine always. Similar setup for me as well, except for using a switcher. I tried a Delisle that didn’t work out for me but didn’t get around to trying a KHE before tariffs kicked in. I just find the Fryette too useful for different scenarios and I got the PS2 because you lose a speaker out with the PS100. I always run two cabs at once and I didn’t need two channels.
I love the reactance switches. Makes dialing any amp easy. Some amps don’t need them, some are saved by them and some just get a fun boost in perceived size.
Throw in being able to boost, low watt amps to 50 watts. Plus the level control is so smooth you can be very accurate with dialing volume vs. some amps that have, all or nothing Masters.

Wayne, the presonus is is probably fine. There’s extremely diminishing returns with mic pre’s and interfaces when it comes to actually getting a good sound into your daw. Are you going the IR route (boo) or micing a speaker? (Yay).

You also might want to look into a reamp box so that you don’t have to repeatedly play when doing demo clips of different gear. This would be where the interface comes into play as far as getting some choices for line outs.

appreciate the info !

mic ing a cab to me seems like a humungus rabbit hole .... I'll have to see .... but my initial plan is to use IR's .... if I feel I can't get a good impression of how it sounds in the room .... I'll have to consider a Iso cab of sorts ..... and I like to build shit so ....

I have a Marshall Origin 50C combo, I've seen them used at under $500. I replaced the 12" speaker and added a PRS Archon 1x12 cab...it's that good for the money IMO. I use it when I don't want to blast my bigger amps

There's a 20W combo which I never tried; keep the gain at 5 or lower and it's clean; the power scaling works great on the 50W; on the 20,w it goes down to 3W and 0.5W; weighs 30 lbs. switichable boost and effects loop - you need to make sure you get the footswitch, it's the only way to enable the effects loop...has a 10" speaker

put a neo creamback in it and it will probably weigh 20 lbs. the DSL20CR (I have a DSL40CR) can get clean too, but goes higher gain, and has two channels...around the same price

I'd try the audio interface you have first.

I had a focusrite and ran into some issues. I've owned my Audient Evo 8 for years and it works great...have a look at Audient. I also have an inexpensive Arturia MiniFuse:1, I paid $99 for it, I use it with my computer rig; sounds good, works great, and small, inexpensive.

Are you going to try to cater to the “Tan Pants” crowd that exists on this forum?

If so , you’re going to need to build a Dumble. style amp for your channel Waynzo.

There’s a lot of of closet D-style amp lovers here.

Tan Pants Lives Matter !

Not a bad deal but as you well know, I'm in no position to buy a hamburger let alone a new used amp, LOL. The ZT lunchbox is about $200 or so used and is the actual size of a lunchbox. Solid state but still 120 watts....surprisingly decent sounding for such a compact amp but no it's not going to be as good as a nice tube marshall gain sound.
