I put a PPIv master in my original 1967 plexi. I figured I would rather put less wear and tear on the amp, tubes and transformers than cranking it into a hotplate. Mine needs a filter cap change badly...I have not played it in close to 5 years. It just sits there looking pretty.  ... I need to get off of my lazy butt and just re-cap the thing.

Reform those caps Dave, that thing will be back in action and roaring like a good'n!!!

One guy on the HRI thread did say he has a 1967 or 68 small box that he was thinking of having tweaked..........................nuts imo.

Fuck it i'd go all out Cameron style and add another channel on the back, 4 gainstages, voicing switches and a bass boost control... :D    Just to see the look on peoples faces :hys:

Woah man, we are not talking about something like floyding out a 59 LP or something, some items need to be respected!!!  :D

I'd have no worries about modifying anything... UNLESS i knew i was gonna sell it on later :D ;) So yeah guys.. be warned.. dont ever lend me your plexi's :D

From HRI......

i'm also offering one that is a collaboration with Dave Friedman its $2600 - that amp is a plexi as well. it has two channels and channel two has just a little more as if you are slamming the front end slightly but still sounds and feels like a plexi. also this amp has a variable watt selector that goes from 100,50,25, 10watts

Man there are soooooooooooooooo many choices now to get your Plexi either modded or have one built from the ground up, crazy!

Rockstah's clips are damn good though....

https://www.soundclick.com/band.....ID=7164257

It really is difficult to choose with so many Plexis and variations thereof out there. I just wish more folks would try to do something new rather than cashing in on the same old (albeit awesome) design. I guess if the demand is there people will buy, no?

Not even close to the same...even though I do happen to believe if you need to mod any old Marshall you might as well go get a Mk IV.

Yeah, whatever we'll talk about that is a few years...it's the gain vs. middle age thing, you'll learn, we all do... :)

I think we are the same age or pretty close right?

I don't mod them for gain really, more to get rid of the sag and dreaded ghost notes.
