Mike has updated / modded 2 of my amps in the last year. A MkIII blue & a Tremoverb. You will not be disappointed! Once he's done with them, I swear these old amps crush what is around new these days...

What was done to your Tremoverb ?

I sent it in for a recap & general look over, plus the tremolo just didn't sound right. He replaced the dodgy LDRs which fixed that problem. I also asked them to check the volume level between channels because my modern channel didn't get the big bump like other rectos, and he told me that this is normal for the T-verbs. In general it just sounds fresh & killer when they come back- 20-30 year old caps to me just start to sound a little thin even if they're not dead yet. Honestly, the T-verb to me crushes every other Recto I've ever heard, and I just leave all the tone knobs at noon. What an effin' cool amp.

On my Mark III Mike did the reverb mod, a full recap, and the C30 mod to bring some of the shrill off- more like a red stripe. Before I couldn't run the presence past about 2, now I'm clocking it around 4 & it's easier to listen to. We also spoke about the III+ mod & I decided against it since it actually rounds off the gain & aggression a little. To me that's what sets the MKIII apart- it's like a hammer to your face!

I also prefer the Tremoverb. Only Mesa I still have is a Mark IV and Tremoverb.

(About to use my Jedi powers to flow walk into the future)

Mailman "OMG! Greatest Mesa Mark amp I have ever heard!!"

Two weeks later.....

text from mailman "wanna trade?"

text from Me "yep. I gots to try it."

It then disappears into the black hole that is my collection.

Maybe I should let my dibs go now....

Oh come on man. This has only happened 6 times before. You make it sound like it's all the time.

Sometimes I miss hanging out around here, and then I see this and ask myself why I haven't coming around lately.  You're the best Mailman

I'm really interested in the results of this mod!

Hey man! Good to see ya back!!

Yeah I got high hopes for the amp as well.
Talked to a few guys here that had this mod done and also after talking with Mike from Mesa he was so damn cool like I knew him for years.

Whole process went smooth as hell. Good price on the mod as well.

No its the "Hurry up and wait" time.

I've chatted with Mike before about a Single Rec I wish I still had...:(

He couldn't be nicer! A great guy, for sure.

Mike said the turn around time would only be a couple weeks. That's not bad at all.
Yup, that was the turnaround for my C+...I'm contemplating the ++ mod..
:poke: :D

Not anymore, sadly. I moved back to Illinois for the time being. Just haven't updated the 'ol profile.

I've been to Mesa HQ more than once. Cool folks and a cool setup. They don't have a giant warehouse either, they are a pretty small outfit. I got a full tour of the place and it was pretty cool seeing their products being built.

Man that would be cool. Isn't it sorta out in farm territory ?
Thought I heard that once.

Welp just checked tracking. My Amp is in the Boogie shop now. :D
For those that hate 'step by step' type styles.....
might wanna log out. I am going to post all info/phone calls From Boogie until this lands back to me. ;)
This way it will give others a true time line That the steps are involving. (well at least in my case)

Both time I sent, I got a call a few days or a week after it got there to talk about it. Then they worked on it. At the end someone called me for money. Had it back home in 3 weeks or so. Very happy with the process, would do it again w/o hesitation.

Yeah I have lots of guys sending me PM's on this about the status....price...etc...
Thats why I wanna post pretty much all the info I get on here in case others want to join the bad ass wagon. :D

Mike B says he wants to get the amps done and out.....so he can work on the next one.
That turn around time is insanely fast.

With my Mark III I was in it about $420, and that was with a new quad of power tubes added. With the Tverb I was in it about $350. Includes return shipping. I think that's super reasonable.

Mikes mod was $300
He said the service needed might be about $120-200 pending whats wrong (amp is dead)
But said it will be basically brand new.
I need a new set of Power tubes (They were smashed when shipped)
He quoted me $100.00
Then I pay shipping back.
I pre-paid for the Modding already when I shipped the amp since it was a flat rate for what I wanted done.
Mesa will figure out the rest then give me the total.
But either way this is still a good deal.

Does Tien still work at Mesa? One of the coolest dudes in the amp world I have ever met.

Not really sure. I only spoke to Mike B and Rich.
I went to their website and it has a few different people listed on it.
I am really impressed how quickly this order was taken in and being able to speak to the guys direct.

I had the RMA# within 2 hours of calling. It was boxed and shipped the next day. But I was planning on doing this for a long time. :D

Man, $300 for a mod with a couple of week turnaround. That's amazing! Makes me want to by an old Mark III and ship it straight to them. One of these days. Post clips!
