man, forgot how much some of the songs from Skyscraper kick ass. Vai sort of lost me after P&W...
Both Eat Em and Smile and Skyscraper had some kick ass tone. He went a different direction afterwards tone wise, which I never really got into, but I guess it worked for the things he was doing.

I was looking on youtube for Two Fools a Minute. I love the intro to that song and the tone is awesome.

I find little similar with that tone and the original.

Cool to see someone playing it though.

Taken from Vai's Website:

December 10, 2003:

- Coming in the next few days - Vai.com's Winter Ebay sale. Steve is auctioning a lot of old, used and unused gear and there's plenty of goodies to be found - like Steve's Jose Arredondo-modded Marshall heads from the DLR tour; Carvin heads; VHT power amps; necks and more! Stay tuned for our list and photos. You can also email us at ebay@vai.com for more information. We will accept reasonable offers before putting the items on Ebay.

So Yes, Vai used Jose modded Marshalls. Not sure about Boogies though ;)

His Rack Slo is still in his eBay folder ....

I spy some possible Jose moded Marshalls here:

Gotta love Adler and balding Frampton in this one:

Vai thanked Boogie for sending him a head that he could set his Jose Marshalls on top of so he wouldn't have to bend down so far to turn on the Jose's.

Did he use Joses and boogies on P&W?
At the time he recorded and released P&W he was on tour with Whitesnake.
And thats his gear he used '89/'90

From top to bottom, a Rane SM26 mixer, two Soldano amp heads with the name "Schiller" on the front
(Stan Schiller was Steve's guitar tech at the time),
and 2 Mesa Boogie Strategy 400 power amps used for the Marshalls below.

These Marshalls were used as preamps only, the power came from the Mesa Boogie power amps seen below.
In the left of this picture is a Yamaha PC2002M power amp, and in the background you can see Steve's guitar closet.

I should have known, seen those pics many times.

His rack is not even shown, gross over-kill and I love it
