Soldano X88-IR in Action! Van Halen!! METAL!!!

Good evening fell RT'ers! I made this really cool video showing off the Soldano X88-IR through a Fryette 2/90/2 power amp rig that @pipboy90 was kind enough to let me borrow. The results are awesome and speak for themselves, so check out the video! As always, your thoughts, opinions, etc about the recording/playing/commentary are always welcome. Enjoy!

Great preamp. I've been running one with a SM100R. It's been taking a back seat to the Bogner 104BV but it is an excellent preamp.

MIDI channel switcher is your friend...lol

I run the switcher to each channel (1 through 4) then programmed the Purple to the Red.
I feel it gives a different vibe running that channel to the red.
Running the purples gain around 10 oclock. Sounds great and different than the Red .

Powering mine with a Mesa Simul 295 .
That amp runs 4 EL34's and 4 6L6's
It can bet switched to run the EL34's only.

It makes the power amp distort/clip quicker.
Best of both worlds.

You did a great video of what the 88X-IR can sound like.

Soldano amps are simply the best period,I could get any sound I want the flexibility is like no other amp and I’ve owned a ton of amps

Thanks guys. I'm glad you liked it. I have been working really hard on my recording, mixing, and mastering. I think I am finally getting the right chain for almost pro-level sounds. I'm going to do a whole video on this because I saw a guy on a forum recently asking, "I bought the IRs that an influencer used and they sound nowhere near as good as the video." The reason why is "studio magic," and I want to talk about how guitar players can get those kinds of sounds without too much technical know-how.

That would be really cool. I always like seeing how other people get their sounds. Always something new to learn. I'll be looking forward to see that!

Nice Demo!! Loving my X88IR as well. I'm running it via a fryette 2:50:2 and always wondered how it stacks up to a SLO100 or if it would have sounded different with a 2:90:2....

Thanks man! You're not missing anything. The 2/50/2 and the 2/90/2 sounded identical. Perhaps the SLO100 would have some differences since it's not a Fryette power amp but like I said in the video, I scrapped the power amp comparison segment because there was no point.

Thanks man. I did not use the included IRs. I thought about doing it but I don't know anything about those IRs and I wanted to use ones that I know are good. In the entire video, there are actually only two IRs, and they're the same the whole time:

Left side: OwnHammer V30 (OHRx V30EN-1999A Blend-4)
Right side: ML Sound Lab Greenback in an OS Marshall "TV" cabinet (ML-MARS-TV-MIX-CLASSIC)
