Required Minimum Distributions - if you have tax deferred retirement accounts, when you reach a certain age (72 or 73) you are forced to take funds out even if you don't need them, and have to pay taxes on the withdrawal amount. If I don't need the money, why do I have to take it out and pay taxes on it?

There's a good chance I may be in the top tax bracket when my RMDs start, which means a significant amount of my withdrawal will go to income taxes.
