Someone please tell me what the deal is with Blackmachine?

It's nice to see some of the newer generation of down-tuned garbage metal guitar players are actually making enough money to afford some of these ridiculously priced pieces of wood. But what's the point of a $20,000 dollar guitar when your music and playing still sound like "And Justice for All" played at 1/4 tempo tuned down 2 steps? Shitmachine guitars will be nothing more than a corksniffing footnote in the history of guitars at best.
I can play and sound just as good on a $300 pawn shop Hondo as any custom shop guitar of your choice...

Anybody here remember Blackhawk guitars????

Actually they sound a lot closer to this

You could bring in the greatest 4/4 metal riff to a rehersal to these bands and they would cut anything out that wasn't on the lowest string and totally fuck up the timing
Its a genre where being offtime means more than actually having a good riff
Don't get me wrong I loved the blackmachines but anyone paying $10,000-$20,000 ....yikes

Caparisons were never really expensive until a few people out there started buying them up and reselling them for high prices. It happened once with a certain member who kept buying from Japan due to the dirt cheap prices, and then it happened again a few years later. They're back down to normal prices now on the used market. You can get one for around $1200-$1600 used like before. Also, they're closer to Jacksons or Charvels than ESPs, IMO.

Too bad they dont compare AT ALL to a BM. I've owned 2-3 Suhrs now including one built by john suhr himself and it was an extremely low serial #...still didnt compare to my Blackmachine.

If you're happy with Suhr or TA though, good for you.


I wonder how many of you tell ferrari owners they could buy a ton of hondas for that price? Hard to believe some of you are older than 14!

Well they aren't bad instruments. Its just like comparing a nice BMW to a lambo or a ferrari. The BMW is still fucking awesome but you can't compare it to a high end super car.

Some idiot already has I believe, and this idiot happens to be a friend of yours I do believe.

So, until you decide to play in another league, stop bashing what you don't understand, get yourself a copy of the "Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook", learn how to EQ, and then maybe you can feel qualified to explain to the thousands of players of active pickups why their choice in gear is wrong.

^^^^ I wasn't trying to force my opinion on anybody regarding active pickups. EMG's do "color" as you pointed out. I just feel it's a very very strong color and if I had a superior built guitar with great wood, I'd want to hear more wood and materials making the guitar unique. But I guess it depends on what your playing. I've never been a super heavy metal type player.

Most EMGs are better for uber-high gain. So yeah, that makes sense.

I use EMG single coils in some of my Strats. Strangely, all of these Strats sound a little different.....

My EMGs must be broken, since they don't make these Strats sound identical.

Oh OK. I thought the price difference was whether or not it was built by Doug or the one's that were farmed out to another builder with Doug's help or something. And that one says it was built by Doug.
