wow, the sheer amount of hater-ism on this thread is astronomical. ive been intrigued by BM guitars for years now, although they are way too expensive for my budget. im not gonna piss on someone for paying what they believe is the fair value of any instrument.

kudos to those who CAN afford them. although i gotta say, im quite surprised at the BM hate, ive always considered this to be a cork-sniffing forum. hahaha. most of the topics here focus on high priced items.

I'm surprised too, I always thought the crowd here was more mature than other places. Do the same people criticizing BMs get mad when someone buys a nice watch, neat car or a badasss boat?

I'm not mad with how you or anyone else spends their money.

I'm just intrigued that there's a similar rhetoric with the guys that buy these high end pieces. It's lauded as the second coming of Christ and it's for sale a week to month later. I get that tastes change but unless you're unaware of the ridiculous hype that is created because it comes from your keyboard strokes, it seems almost intintial as crazy as that is to say.

Oh and the contrived bullshit behind BM owners saying they like to deal in secret. What are you, illuminati?

I cycle but there's no way I'd buy an entire Carbon built bike. The cassette on the average bike weighs less than two pounds and most groupsets are just as lite. You're not 'pro' if you don't have one though.

He lives in DC

Funny because I never heard of him or the band except on the Fractal forum and here

Last band I saw in DC was Social Hero (NY Band) a few years ago. The lead Guitarist/Singers father is Ian Lloyd- Uncle to a friend of mine and we went to see them- Was Back up singer for YES, Foreigner, Billy Joel https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ian_Lloyd_(musician) Awesome dude really cool. Probably one of the best new bands I have seen since Jimmies Chicken Shack. Raw good hard rock.

Will check them out! I am not a big periphery fanboy personally, but I can get my djent on occasionally. Go grab my slip-ons, sister's pants, and 5 noise gates.

By the way, we posted that exact les paul in you avatar on Guitar Porn the other day. I was drooling over that one.
I tried to listen to djent, just not for me

Thanks! I am waiting patiently for that Les Paul...It is back ordered  Which sucks and caused me to want instant gratification so I bought a Eric Clapton Blackie

Honestly I don't care what people spend on anything. The rarity of the guitar just made me think of Dumble. I have seen people waste more money than that on drugs and throw musical careers away because of it. Hell I built a Custom '79 Harley super glide, spent 5 years and thousands of dollars building it, rode it for 1 summer and traded for a Grizzly 600 4 wheeler with snow plow.  I do get more use out of the 4 wheeler, deer hunting, fun and plowing snow once in a while

All comes down to what makes you happy. I want a Corvette and Ferrari 308, Not to show off or status but because its what I like and want.

You should check out the mountain bike forums... its even worse! Isnt it great when someone competes with an all steel frame and blows everyone away!

I remember some years ago when a few guys were gaga over Craparison, ooops I meant Caparison guitars. Is Blackmachine the new Caparison? A few metal bands play them, talk em up, limited quantity and all the crab metalers want one.

      At least you can actually get a Caparison.

What is a crab metaler? One these?

Why do $30k purses, million dollar cars, etc, exist? There's always someone that wants their shit to be a little more special than everyone else's, and can afford it. Whether or not it's actually worth the money isn't really anyone's business but theirs. I personally don't think it could possibly be worth the cash, so I don't buy it, but I couldn't care any less of anyone else does.

.

How many do you see for sale? Point.

What happens every time you see one for sale? Point.

Every single time I have listed a BM for sale this happens. HUNDREDS of emails, threads all over the web, facebook blowing up. Haters everywhere. Yeah, that's why most BMs sell behind the scenes.

Speak for yourself. I still am gaga for them. They are my favorite guitars of all time, specifically, the Angelus.

      @ crab metal. :D

Oh I agree, but when some start making it like there is a special club then it kind of bothers me. I am sure they are great playing guitars and of course they are unique. I just don't get the appeal. Hell, I don't even get the whole vintage guitars thing like the holy grail LPs and Strats from the 50's and 60's or even the Historic Reissues.

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand.

It's a Blackmachine thing.

Look at nash guitars. He takes a new Tele, Strat or Gibson LP standard/traditional and relics it then resells them for double

I call that a used guitar worth half or less than new

When I was growing up there were no vintage guitars just old used ones

Could never get past the Iron Sheik headstock.

Seems more like a straight forward economics supply/demand situation (imo) like Dumble, except for metal 7 string players.

Caparison seems to me (just imo) an ESP "ish" line with unique differences that rode a wave of core metal in the 00's and seemed to have leveled off at the moment.

Caparisons were never really expensive until a few people out there started buying them up and reselling them for high prices. It happened once with a certain member who kept buying from Japan due to the dirt cheap prices, and then it happened again a few years later. They're back down to normal prices now on the used market. You can get one for around $1200-$1600 used like before. Also, they're closer to Jacksons or Charvels than ESPs, IMO.

Edit: And speaking of hype... Sig:X, JVM, Cameron, etc. ring a bell?

It's nice to see some of the newer generation of down-tuned garbage metal guitar players are actually making enough money to afford some of these ridiculously priced pieces of wood. But what's the point of a $20,000 dollar guitar when your music and playing still sound like "And Justice for All" played at 1/4 tempo tuned down 2 steps?  Shitmachine guitars will be nothing more than a corksniffing footnote in the history of guitars at best. :loco: :jerkit:
I can play and sound just as good on a $300 pawn shop Hondo as any custom shop guitar of your choice...

Anybody here remember Blackhawk guitars????

First off, I want to say that the sound cloud clip of loomis' guitarist playing battery through a Blackmachine sounds below average. The tone sounds digital, like it is a cheap ibanez going through a metal zone pedal. The playing is tight though. If this is meant to some how show this guitar in a good light, it did the exact opposite. Loomis' tone on his video is inferior to his regular tone as well, faces and all.

That said, hearing that the builder of these guitars doesn't build guitars full time convinced me that this is a serious and sad case of internet hype. If is frankly insulting to full time guitar builders that the best among them is an part timer. I concede that he may be "talented" at building guitars, but this is akin to stating that the best guitarist is a part timer also who is an accountant on the side. Please.

When BM owners are described as a tight knit group, moving behind the scenes with other BM owners, because putting one up for sale publicly makes you an asshole, I makes me think of a cult. The group needs to be tight knit in order to keep their delusion alive. These guitars are worth whatever they are worth because of simple economics: supply and demand. Please don't make them out to be more than that.

Btw, I wouldn't sell my 1992 les paul standard for $20,000 either. Too much sentimental value for me. Does that mean that it is worth that?

Edit: never mind. This post isn't intelligent enough to justify a response.

Man, you're an arrogant SOB, aren't ya? The guy is expressing his opinion. No need to insult him.
