Nother vote for Sad But True. I also like Leper Messiah too. But the overall tones and production on the Black Album is hard to beat IMO

Wizard cabs are behind him. I wonder what amps he was using that show?

I saw them on that tour, I asked their tech what James was using and he said Triaxis through 2:90 into Wizard cabs. Can't believe that was 13 yrs ago already, my memory was a little fuzzy but I think he used a 57 and an AT4050 mic on one of the cabs.

Probably as far as tone, black album for me, especially Sad But True and God That Failed.

Also really dig Death Magnetic, MOP and RTL.

That reverse echo deal about 40 seconds in on Leper Messiah - shh cunk shh cunk. Yea, bitchen Hetfield tone. Or Michael Wagener or somebody.

Kill em All -- Seek and Destroy, Hit the Lights
Ride -- Call of Ktulu, FWTBT
Puppets -- Thing that Should not Be, Leper Messiah
AJFA -- To live is to die
Black -- Sad but true, Unforgiven

Leper Messiah and The Thing That Should Not Be are two of my favorites as well
